Province of Solden
The Province of Solden is the most wealthy of the provinces in The Republic of Solden and Vernica accounting for almost forty percent of the wealth in the Republic. Solden is the second most populace sitting at around 60 million people. Solden is know for its booming trade and as well as its production of trade and luxury goods. Raw material is brought in from around the provinces and transformed into goods that are usually sent to the Adal Caliphate to be sold. The ruling class of Solden is also extraordinarily wealthy and purchase a large amount of luxury goods from the Adal Caliphate as well. Solden funds the majority of the legions trained and formed by Vernica and even sends a large amount of its legions to Vernica to be trained. Where Vernica fields the majority of the legions Solden has the majority of the fleet. They build massive fleets using the wood from the Garot Forest constructing a large number of the ships in Kaivoss the rest in Solden and Egeria. They import a large number of cannons from Miana to place on these ships which gave them an edge early on in most engagements, but today most enemy fleets also are mounted with cannons.
Structure
The province of Solden is one of the two provinces directly ruled by the senate and the consul of Vernica. The senate usually focuses economically on the the provinces of Solden and Vernica and militarily and taxation on the other provinces. The Senate will directly pass legislation in the home provinces to ensure The Republic of Solden and Vernica is maintained and no internal threat poses a danger to the senate and their external threats are dealt with and eventually bent to their will. The provinces are allowed to have their own senators, the specifics can be seen in the Senate of Solden and Vernica, but the home provinces when working together will always have the upperhand.
Public Agenda
The province of Solden is the economic hand of the Republic and funds its numerous and expensive wars. They also build a significant amount of the fleet protecting the waters from raids from Those of Gaulren and Coalition of Hadasht. Solden's elite makes a significant amount of money from perpetuating the wars they do bringing back plunder when the legions are successful as well as owning the vast amount of production of war material outside of weapons and armor which is mostly made by the Dwarves.
History
The Province of Solden was considered fully colonized in 3568 C.e when the armies of the Soldicus family pushed the few minor tribes out of the Mirri grasslands claiming it for themselves. The Vernicus and Soldicus family entered into an alliance to fully control the flow of colonists and trade between them and the old world. These two families formed The Republic of Solden and Vernica which has been maintained to one degree or another up into the modern age. The province of Vernica spent the next two millennia with the wars with the Those of Gaulren trying to push into the modern province of Redwater, but being pushed back a number of times. Solden was able to colonize the province of Plania very quickly which was the main source of food for the Republic until the province of Luclana surpassed it around two centuries later. Plania was a far more secure province than Luclana that was subject to orc raids and attacks from Albion but just didn't have the amount of very fertile land Luclana has. In the modern age the are currently plagued by the Den of Thieves which constantly take from caravans around the province. Solden continued to push back Those of Gaulren but when the king of the first ascended to power uniting the tribes they managed to push Solden back into the Mirri grasslands even taking land back in the Mirri grasslands. They requested aid from Polipsis of Vernica which eventually lead into the events of The First Republican Civil War.
After the events of The First Republican Civil War most events until the second Republican civil war and third Republican civil war are lumped together as one action taken by The Republic of Solden and Vernica for ease of explanation. The two provinces are fairly different with distinctive cultural norms and celebrations, but its geopolitical actions are taken by the senate which is considered united.
Demography and Population
The population of the province of Solden is a majority humans with a significant number of dwarves, elves, and half-elves. There are a significant number of other races such as sylphs, half-orcs, cat-folk, etc. but mostly only if the have acquired citizenship. These races that have not acquired citizenship whilst in the Republic, especially the home provinces, are discriminated against and sometimes are barred from entering establishments. Early on even citizens of non-core races of the republic were discriminated against, but when this lead to a shortage of troops for the legion as well as manpower shortages for industrial centers the senate went on a campaign to make the core races trust non-core races if they are citizens. Most non-core citizens get an official tattoo or carry documentation with them to be accepted in society.
