Sato
Sato is the largest city in the outer Garot Forest. It is the largest logging center in the entire Republic responsible for building entire fleets throughout its history. Sato is the third largest city in the province of Redwater and is considered the most diverse city racially in the entire Republic. The city of Sato itself is considered relatively safe and has only been sieged to twice, once following the Fourth Hadash Expedition and once during the Sundering in which its half of its population was killed and the other half was enslaved by the attacking armies of Those of Gaulren. Since its recapture during the Justicar's Crusades Sato has never been attacked and has been an excellent source of wealth and resources for the province of Redwater.
Defences
Sato is protected by a large wooden palisade. Sato also usually contains between two centuries to an entire cohort stationed inside as well as several contuberniums in the surrounding area. Sato is considered relatively undefended for a city of its size, but since it is deep in the woods and so close to the city of Kaivoss troops have been determined to not be needed there. With so many adventurers calling Sato home the Evocati are able to call on a number of mercenaries.
Anytime threats from the inner Garot Forest that become too great for the city to deal with then Kaivoss will dispatch legionnaires to deal with the issue or the Justicar's blades a handful of Venandi.
Industry & Trade
Sato is known for its vast logging industry. Due to the amount of logs they are able to sell, mostly to Kaivoss for building ships, are able to afford the number of mercenaries to deal with any problems that come from the inner Garot Forest. Sato does not trade a significant amount with other nations due to its inland location in spite of the amount of adventurers coming from all across Gaulren. The contracts in Sato are very lucrative and abundant and on top of that Sato is the only major city that does not require citizenship in order to own land. It does import weaponry from the Minor Dwarven holds in the Tarnished Mountains, but past that trade caravans mostly leave Sato not arrive.
Sato only recently received a permanent magic shop after the former Lunsine college magic shop caused a massive fire in the area resulting in their ban from the city around a century ago. Lunsine mages are still treated warily in most towns in the outer Garot forest.
Infrastructure
Within the city there are a few shops and buildings of importance.
