Tarnished Mountains
The Tarnished Mountains are the mountain range in the center west of the continent of Wolsten. There are three forests on the north, east, and south side of the mountains with the contested sea to the west. The Tarnished mountains are controlled by the minor Dwarven Holds on the northern stretch of the mountain. The Tarnished Mountains are so called because they are not very rich in mineral resources and the dwarves there struggle to find any significant veins to mine, but still export a significant amount of weapons to the Province of Redwater mostly to Kaivoss and Sato. The Tarnished Mountains are a drab brown with sparse trees covering the mountain making it look like patchwork and causing the mountains to look dreary.
The Mountain Range also splits the three provinces of the Republic on the continent. The tarnished mountains are home to tribes of giants just like the Glittering Mountains. The Dwarven Holds in the Glittering Mountains rarely interact with the dwarves in the Tarnished Mountains, but some Dwarves in the Tarnished Mountains have joined in the Wars of the Broken Holds making the thousands of miles journey from the Tarnished Mountains to the Glittering Mountains.
The Republic of Solden and Vernica never made any mines in the mountains due to its low yield and only the dwarves with their expert mining techniques digging deep into the earth was the only way to make the mines profitable in any way. The Republic ceded the land to the Dwarves in return for discounts on weapons and armor for their legionnaires.
