Zamra Mountains

The Zamra Mountains1 is the second tallest mountain range in Emlas, located in the eastern part of the continent. They are bordered by the Nómek Plain to the north, the fertile lowlands between them and the coast of Úrtal Sea to the east, the Zúdalikí Desert to the south, the hills on the edge of Imkala to the southwest, the Narannax Mountains to the west and the Akna Plain to the northwest.
The mountains are home to the Dalrans, Vanrans and other mountain tribes, and form the heartland of the empire of Dalra.

Geography

Many lakes and rivers are found in the mountains, the most prominent ones are Namazús which flows to the south into the desert, and Halax River which flows northwards and forms the boundaries between the Nómek- and Akna Plain. The largest lake is the sacred Eþekala Lake, where the hero Jamas is believed to have emerged from, fought monsters that threatened mankind's existence, before disappearing back into the lake.
Other sacred places include certain mountain peaks, particularly Mt. Sóm, where gold, precious stones and fine cloth are offered on an altar at the top each year, and caves in some of these mountains are used as tombs.

Fauna & Flora

Notable wildlife in the Zamra Mountains includes bears, foxes, donkeys, mountain goats, ptarmigans, eagles and finches. Potatoes and similar tubers are native to the mountains, as are apricot- and almond trees.
