Eþekala Lake

Dalran: Eþekala /ɛːθɛkhaːla/
Eþekala (dalríska)

Eþekala Lake1 is located in the northwestern Zamra Mountains in eastern Emlas. It's the source of Halax River, the longest one in Emlas, and is sacred to the Dalrans, Vanrans and other inhabitants of the mountains.
The dalrans believe that the hero Jamas, son of the rain goddess Malþó, emerged from the so that he could slay monsters ravaging the world of mortals and thus allow humanity to prosper. When this was done, Jamas returned to the lake and vanished, though dalrans believe he will return when needed again, so long as they make regular offerings on Naþólix Island in the middle of the lake to show their gratitude.

Fauna & Flora

The lake is home to a number of fish, amphibians and invertebrates found nowhere else in the world, as well as all sorts of waterfowl and other birds, though most of the plants and wildlife surrounding it have long since been replaced by fields, towns and villages.
