Serukis is a country on the continent of Caia, a relatively large land to the north of the Teeth. Along its coastline are more than a hundred islands in a stretch of ocean known as the Grey Waters. It is a temperate place with harsh winters, full of forests, rocky moors, and hills.
The name of Serukis comes from the Kaienese words 'seru' meaning hope and 'kys' meaning land. It means 'land of hope'. The country was founded by Kaienese refugees, though the land encompassing both Serukis and Caillah was once known as Vasethal, the homeland of the Koushan Mai. Though Koushan Mai still live in Serukis, they are very much in the minority.
Serukis is ruled by a monarchy, though the king is backed up by four High Lords. Each high lord, including the king, are considered to be the avatar of one of the Five Lords and the interpreter of their divine will.
