Vokda's Plane Geographic Location in Emynea | World Anvil

Vokda's Plane

Like all Aspects, Vokda has a parallel plane that overlaps the physical world and connects directly where void occurs in the physical world. Void is present everywhere, in minute amounts, existing between every molecule and every space not occupied by matter. Due to the microscopic nature of this void, there are not many actual windows or portals to Vokda's Plane. However, the void of space off planet is completely open to Vokda's plane.

On Emynea itself, the only portals are those which can be generated magically and a few locations where Zalikar has laced the landscape with this aspect such as Lacuna Heath. Vokda's Plane is also a part of Zalikar himself, connected to his mind and a physical piece of his soul. All void magic, racial or otherwise, draws from this plane and from Zalikar.

Geography

Vokda's Plane itself is akin to outer space but possesses no stars, planets or other celestial bodies. It isn't hospitable to those without protection and to who aren't blessed with Vokda's magic, it is a completely empty space with only whispers of the physical world overlaying it where it connects to the physical world. Hints of muffled voices occasionally break through.

Hidden within the heart of this plane is Vokda's hoard. This plane isn't as convenient for travelling Emynea but it does have a unique utility all its own—storage. There is no air, no bacteria or fungi, nothing at all. It is a totally sterile and even frigid environment which tends to preserve anything suspended in its vacuum. Vokda himself makes ample use of these qualities and is known for his greed and tendency to hoard things he likes. All manner of treasure, ancient technologies and trinkets are stored within this plane, the most precious of these centered in the heart of the plane. Within his castle.

Deep within Vokda's Plane is a castle constructed of concentrated void. This isn't visible to the naked eye, not without Vokda's blessings. To those with proper sight, the plane is more than an endless void. While there is no gravity, no discernable up or down, one can still navigate via the structures populating this plane. A scifi cityscape is suspended in this weightless plane and surrounds a grand castle floating overhead, everything constructed of concentrated void.

If one takes the time to explore this once thriving city they are in for a disturbing surprise—this ghost town still contains the corpses of its once inhabitants. Preserved endlessly in the void. The entire slaughtered city, an advanced and futuristic city, has been left as is over the millenia since they met their end. Vokda's Castle overlooks the city, located centrally and is nearly identical to the castle in Accia. However, it is pitch black instead of white. Within the bowels of this castle and at the center of this plane is Vokda's hoard.

Above this empty city, the vast expanse of space reveals itself. Any capable of travelling here can freely explore or study the vast expanse of space through this plane. While there are no planets, stars or the like here, the holes and pockets they create in the plane can be observed here. Millenia ago, Vokda allowed those he had blessed and those passionate about space exploration to reside in and freely travel his plane. This ancient city was incredibly advanced during this era and, with the aid of their patron, a sleek spaceport and sci-fi city was constructed around Vokda's Castle made entirely out of void. The city was a hub and Vokda's loneliness was eased by this company and activity in his home. Until he was betrayed.

History

by Lee Stepp

During the Era of Legends following the Birth of the Erlithmanil, Zalikar had allowed those possessing Vokda's blessings to construct a city within this plane. Dark magic wasn't as popular as many of the others but this only lead him to value those who sought his gifts all the more. Vokda himself is quite lonely by nature and had taken great joy in filling his plane with these seeming kindred souls. He ruled this kingdom as his own, constructing the city from concentrated void and this served as a home base for those utilizing his plane for space travel. This was a very modern city, beyond modern even. Bold explorers studied and wandered the expanse of space and this city was the heart of it all.

At the end of the Era of Legends, the Erlithmanil themselves had gifted all of their power away and had even lost their immortality. When they had nothing left to give, rather than supporting those who had given them so much, humanity turned their backs on their once gods. Some even turned on them, Wylrith left on the cusp of death after their followers attacked them. When Zalikar made his pact with Azryth and reclaimed their power, Zalikar's Vengeance was harsh. He hunted down every dark caster he could find over the course of a century and the worst of his wrath was centered on the city within Vokda's Plane. Vokda slaughtered every human within the plane and left their bodies within their homes and streets as a warning not only to any who may wander into his plane thereafter but as a reminder to himself the cost of blind faith and naive trust.
