Seafall

History

Seafall was founded in 995 During a trade expedition. Originally established by Ryland Stormrider as a trading post with the local forest tribes, this military port would eventually become Seafall. For more than 10 years Ryland Stormrider ran the port settlement under House Brightwater, however in 1012, everything changed. Under economic pressure from piracy and other political manifestations, House Brightwater petitioned the Sultan to separate the port town of Seafall from its control saying it could not protect the people there. The Sultan agreed and Seafall was granted to Ryland Stormrider, creating House Stormrider who still rule it to this day.

Under Hilde Stormrider the town of Seafall saw its peak in the late 11th century. However under the strong leadership of it current ruler Cedric Stormrider its economic fortunes are turning once again.

Population

As of this writing in 1172 Seafall has a population of about 2000 souls living inside it walls. Approximatly 8 000 in surrounding farms and fishing huts. 80% are Human, 5% elf, 5% dwarf, 5% gnome, 5% everything else.

Economy

The main exports of seafall are salted fish and other marine equipment. Many a sailor has learned the trade on the waters near seafall to then seek fortune elsewhere. Seafall also hosts a small but steady hospitality industry as a few days sail from Tideport (North) and Suncrest (south) and any bed and a chance at coin beats a rocky beach. As Oakreach fell into decline trade between the two towns has fallen to the point contact is nearly gone; dispite only being a day and a half march away.

Mara’s Market in Seafall is almost all local traffic, but it is busy neary every day. There is a large forest nearby suitable for ship building, but as of this date, large sawmill is in the area.
