Upbringing

Sigvald Runeweaver grew up in the frigid coastal village of Seafall , the son of a humble fisherman. Days on the icy waters with his father were a constant part of his childhood. While the other villagers bundled themselves in thick furs, Sigvald seemed impervious to the biting chill. He would sit barefoot on the edge of the boat, his breath barely visible in the frosty air, while the cold nipped at everyone else.

One fateful winter, Sigvald accidentally revealed his powers. A sudden storm churned the sea, threatening to capsize their small fishing boat. As his father struggled to keep the vessel steady, Sigvald instinctively raised his hand. The waves froze mid-surge, the icy surface spreading outward in intricate crystalline patterns. His father stared in awe and fear, murmuring that Sigvald had been "touched by Mara."

From that point onwards Sigvald was both part of the village and apart. He continued to work with his father as a fisherman but always got a slightly higher price for fish due to a touch of fear. Young fisherman refused to work on his fishing boat, due to his gift.

During the Siege of Seafall Sigvald powers were tested during a goblin raid on Seafall. Cornered in a narrow alley with frightened villagers behind him, Sigvald stood his ground. As the goblins charged, he unleashed a blizzard of frost and ice, freezing their crude weapons in mid-swing and turning their snarls into frozen screams. By the time reinforcements arrived, Sven stood alone amid a field of icy statues, having saved the villagers with his indomitable will and mastery of frost.

Though the people of Seafall still view his as dfferent, Ida “Hotspur” Stonefoot reconized talent, and he soon sold his fishing boat and joined the Silver Falconers.
