Tideport

History

Nestled on the edge of the Western Forests of Belkar, Tideport is a thriving city of cunning merchants, daring pirates, and skilled sailors. Originally settled by House Evergreen in the mid-750s. For its first 250 years, it was just a small fishing village in an agriculturally rich area. However, in 1011, one of the twin claimants to House Evergreen fled to Tideport. The Sultan offered a noble title to a pirate king if the pirate turned on his fellows and killed the twin. The pirate agreed, and in 1012 the pirate fleet arrived, stormed the city and killed the Evergreen twin. At that point House Seasnake was established, the city quickly grew into a bustling hub of trade and piracy. The natural harbor, shielded by jagged cliffs and treacherous reefs, made it an ideal refuge for corsairs, while its location on major maritime routes ensured a steady flow of wealth and opportunity.

Despite its reputation for piracy, Tideport is more than a den of thieves. Its people are proud, resilient, and fiercely loyal to their city. They see themselves as free spirits, unshackled by the constraints of distant empires. Tideport thrives in the balance between chaos and commerce, a jewel of the western coast that gleams brighter with every tide.

Population

The city of Tideport has become one of the largest in Belkar, and the capital of the Western Forests region of Belkar. The city is 40% Elves, 30% Humans, 10% Gnomes, 10% Dwarves and 10% everything else.

Economy

Though offical piracy is illigial, it has long been suspected that piracy and reaving have continued at the sanction of House Seasnake. Local timber is fashioned into boats, at one of the only drydocks in Belkar. Mined goods from Soft March Mines are shipped from the large port here to other coastal cities of Belkar.
