House Seasnake
Lore
House Seasnake’s origins lie in the shadowy depths of piracy and privateering along the Sultanate’s southern and western coasts. The Seasnake reavers were a feared and ruthless coalition of Moorish pirates. Commanding sleek ships with serpent-like prows, they terrorized merchant fleets of House Brightwater and House Ravenshield , outmaneuvered naval patrols, and built their wealth by plundering coastal settlements. Their leader, Arvan al-Jadir, was a cunning tactician and silver-tongued negotiator, respected as much for his mind as his blade. Under his command, the Seasnakes became a formidable force, uniting disparate pirate crews under a single banner.
However, as the Sultanate began losing control over its seas to pirates, the Sultan realized that brute force alone would not bring order. Seeing an opportunity to take care of two birds with one stone, the Sultan of the day offered the head of the largest pirate captain, Arvan Al-Jadir, a deal. Kill the pirate fleets raiding the western coast of Belkar and kill the wayward twin of House Evergreen in the town of Tideport. Do this, and become a noble house in your own right. Arvan agreed, killing the pirate fleets first, and then entering Tideport on 1012 and killing the wayward twin of Evergreen.
Now, 161 years later, House Seasnake thrives as a noble house with a fleet of loyal ships and an extensive network of trade and intelligence. Though their past as pirates casts a long shadow, the family claims to have turned their cunning and ruthlessness toward serving the Sultan. Still, whispers of betrayal follow their name, and their loyalty is a constant question in court.
