Compañeros part 4

General Summary

Grolm 13, 578
Twenty-five minutes after Pitch Noon!

We open in the middle of the action. This is the final showdown on Sarsparilla Ranch!

Save the Hesters, Save the Princess:

Bruthazmus Kele is in a nearly ideal position for some classic Old West dirty fighting. By his grip on Hell Hand Bowser Kotabe's waistband and collar, he had been swinging the fiendish cowhand around as a sort of makeshift battering ram to hit one of the Hell Bovines in the northern quartet. Now that he does not have hold of this Hell Hand any more, Bruthazmus could use a few more down-and-dirty Old Ranger Tricks to smash the rest of Kotabe's fighting capacity, or he could join Hell Hand Leather Cobb (!) in trying to keep Moo 001 from getting enough space to start trampling everyone!

And does Leather Cobb need some attacks coming his way as well?

Chica Alston tries to keep in the way of Moo 001 and the place in the grass where Gore Hester lies. If that hellcow charges, there won't be any dodging her. Maybe Chica can divert her course just barely enough to save the helpless Foreman?

Princess Alfredo-Alston is trying to maneuver through the combat to help her spouse stay alive. Princess has Gore's knife, so at least she's not completely unarmed!

Zhang Sephia, having taken immediate steps to keep Bull Hester functional, works to keep Moo 008 -- the Hell Bovine with the broken horn -- under control. So long as she is not being trampled by a juvenile Woolly Rhinoceros (and why is a Giant Bee clinging onto this one's hump and singing into its ears?!?), Moo 008 presumes that she has a chance of winning a fight against one of the hated Ranch Hands and one good-natured harpy.

Stormborn sorcerer Miro Teague, with his arms pinned to his torso by a Thorny Lasso, continues to be more of a danger to his opponents than they can handle! Now that Miro and Jesse Devonshire have taken down Moo 006, they must deal with an attacking [Happy Little Blood Cabbage.

Just outside the Bunkhouse:

Scholarly monk Lee Chung successfully roped the enslaved Man of the Book. Faith Harrell has proven to be a devilishly intelligent, resourceful, perceptive opponent. If there's a way for him to get out of this trap, the smart bet is that he will find it! But can his findings last long enough for Lee Chung to do something about the bigger problem?

For she is finishing up her final test before she takes strong action against all of those who have annoyed her this afternoon.

The Lady of the Choking Smog takes one more cautious swipe at the thorny growth of Jesse Devonshire's thicket.
She looks at the scythe-like cut marks.

She smiles.

Between Doors:

Apprentice Chef smashes Tonto the Faithful Cabbage with his trusty ladle. He is trying to protect Liberata Pasquarella long enough to get to the barn door. Miss Pasquarella has detected another threat looming which she has not yet had the chance to share with Chef.

Near Sarsparilla Barn, sorcerer's familiar Spiro curls up on Chef's hat for a restorative nap away from the sputtering smoke of the burning haystacks and the leaden weight of the starless sky. The world smells of ash and sulfur and green, gloriously healthy thicket to the little Outsider fire lizard. Spiro may yet need to join Chef on fighting this persistent blood-sucking cabbage. Somewhere in the distance, something may be wrong with Miro? But it does not yet feel as urgent as setting this giant brassica on fire!

Briarseed Children shout peppercorn clacking within the thicket. The harpy has flown beyond their sight. Where should they seek their next target?

We have bursts of fire near the barn. Those make a nice, bright beacon. We have bits of neon glow far to the north and west. Our missing master wanted those all eradicated. And let us not forget the gigantic dangerous moo to the West!
— Maurice to Gangsta of Seed and She-Seed, as they surround an unknowing pair of humans

Zhang Sephia succeeded in saving the Mullinses from the Griefgalls, but was unable to expel the fiends inhabiting them. In hindsight that was probably for the best, since Sephia does not have a demon holding bottle either. If this particular Duo can manage to receive no orders from the remaining Monarch of the Hell Herd, maybe they can stick to fighting plant monsters until someone can rescue them the rest of the way?

Save the Hesters
and the Princess!

Sarsparilla

Sarsparilla Barn, the attached Bunkhouse, the ruins of the former ranch house, and immediately surrounding environs.

The spot near the northeastern barn door where the physical form of the Cloven Prince melted, that is a spot where nothing will ever grow -- not even worms, not even flies. The dirt from that spot will never be good for any life, neither!

Some other areas continue to show signs of fast plant decay. It will take many years for the residue of a druidic plant growth region followed by an infernal Greater Curse will work out of the soil. It will take almost as long for that persistent slime on the northwest face of the Bunkhouse roof to completely dry up and vanish, too!

Recommendations for when viewing this map:
  1. Confirm active marker groups include
    • SNAFU Posse
    • moo!
    • de Alfredo and associates
    • Owners of Black Hats
    • Energetic Objects
(should already be active on load)
  2. Count your remaining expendable resources!
