Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Chica is slightly shorter than average for human women of the Freecities League. She has an athletic but compact build. Her hands are always roughly chapped, but she is mindful of wearing a good hat and other weather-appropriate accessories to protect her face and neck from damage.
Facial Features
Chica has round cheeks; a button nose; thin, orange-tinted lips; and larger-than-average eyes that the particularly unwise might compare to gnomish features.
Physical quirks
Chica tends to stand with her fists on her hips whether celebrating a personal victory (no matter how small) or studying a potential grievance (no matter how unintended).
Apparel & Accessories
Chica will happily dress up nice for special occasions, in fact she is careful to maintain her musculature so that she still fits into the orange-trimmed yellow ballgown that she brought along when she arrived in Purgatory Gulch, but Chica otherwise prefers durable, comfortable all-weather outfits suited for the typical ranch hand. She spends a good amount of her wages on tailored denim shirts that are probably yellow (because there's reliable money in dying an entire skein of heavy cotton yarn in the yellow shades of the Whippetal Ranch brand) but trimmed in orange. She wears wool trousers in winter or denim overalls in summer, probably originally the same yellow as her shirt but quickly faded to a sort of desert khaki color with use.
Chica spends too much time on horseback to be comfortable in a coat. Usually she has a leather chaqueta at the top of her saddlebag, ready for sudden turns in the weather. When the chaqueta suffers enough damage from rough travel to no longer be easily repaired, she cuts it down to make a vest and sets aside a third of her wages to purchase another chaqueta from the Purgatory Gulch General Store.
Chica always wears one of several neckerchiefs given to her by Princess, a pink-and-peach paisley pattern on them, and she may have a matching bandana tied over her hair under the Oatman Hat.
Specialized Equipment
For such a practical woman, it is surprising that Chica always wears certain pieces of jewelry, to the point that the set may have magical properties: flower-shaped small earrings, a brooch, and an Oatman Band whose concho is again a flower of the same style. They all have a green, round center surrounded by six white half-circle petals.

Ivančica 'Chica' Alston is one of the permanent ranch hands at Whippetal Ranch, most often working the herds nearest Sagebrush Barn. She may be partnered with Princess Alfredo-Alston but more often she teams with her sister Lucky Alston. Unless the weather is dangerous enough to bring the herd indoors for the night, Chica's duo will be on nights for two weeks, then swap with the Logan duo to work days for two weeks.
Intellectual Characteristics
Chica has a rough-and-tumble, extroverted personality. At work she shows a competitive streak that can extend into showboating; when off-duty, for example if her most recent herd has been taken away on a cattle drive and the new herd has yet to be split off from the core stock, Chica tends to be loud, cheerful, and confident.
Some might also call her "boisterous, impulsive, and excitable", but not in hearing range of Chica or Princess.
She does have a bit of a temper but has learned to harness it in service of her goals. More than one lower-ranked ranch hand has warned new hires to make all their mistakes where someone else will see it; the running gag is that Chica is the human version of a weedwhip and therefore the inspiration for the ranch's name: she looks like a normal person when at rest, albeit a bit of a nuisance, but your first warning that she might be annoyed comes about the same time that the sharp edge of her temper slices open your hand.
