GHG Session 61: Floating in the Forest

General Summary

Month 4, Week 2, Year 919
The Fortunate Five quickly made their way over to the emergency meeting with Kyoko Hara to discuss the disappearance of Cpt. Inaba. The kalashtar was a rising star in Sanjuro City's military helping to annex more territory from the recently stabilized Koulan Forests, but earlier in the week she vanished with a camp of loggers somewhere within the Forests. Kyoko was not pleased to find out that Windred's stalker Craghan might be involved, blaming the young druid for letting the situation get out of control. Rescuing Inaba became the FF's priority mission, superseding any international conference-related work.   Given the gravity of the situation, the FF started calling up allies to help deal with Craghan once and for all. Loopmottin quickly teleported up to Sanjuro City, eager to help the FF traverse the Koulan Forests once more. Meanwhile Zan'kiri got in touch with Koulan himself, learning more about the location of Craghan's floating fortress in the forests with some dicey divination magic. Koulan still didn't seem to understand mortal ambitions or the concept of time in increments smaller than an eon, but Zan'kiri offered to give the primordial being the peace he'd been craving for eons in return for escorting them to Craghan's fortress. It wasn't the only deal Zan'kiri made that week: quickly modifying Windred's memories afterwards, he offered Windred the necromantic equivalent of a suicide pill in case she fell into Craghan's clutches.   Compared to their grueling trek through the Koulan Forests hunting down Ownka, the FF's journey into the Forests was a walk in the park now that Koulan himself was working with instead of against them. Teleporting to the Teardrop early in the morning, by sunset that same day the party found themselves face-to-face with Craghan's lair: a lighthouse floating in the sky with kintsugi-style scars lacing down its walls. Craghan tried to lure Windred out on her own, but the FF quickly leapt into action to defend her. Even as Craghan manipulated the battlefield to give him plenty of spots to evade capture, the FF teleported into the fray in a matter of seconds. Reetma had Koulan toss him up to one of the platforms of Craghan's lair, Zan'kiri used Dimension Door on Xa'kara to bring her up to Craghan's lab for an aerial attack, and Bubbles used their Cape of the Mountebank to teleport Loopmottin into the center of the fight.   The FF had fought ghosts underwater, fiends on land, and now they found themselves fighting creeps in the sky...
