Förkans

The Förkans1 are a Mörkel tribe inhabiting western North-Eila on the central Plain of Kings, around the village of Fírketal. Their territory borders those of the Hýtens to the northeast and the ruling North-Eilans to the east.
Originally from what is now East-Óltrat to the west, contacts between the Förkans and the EIlans (both North- and South-Eilans) have occurred since the times of Eila'togía, the first Mörkel kingdom, and thus when the Yfrigíans began their conquest of the Óltratic tribes during the sixth century, the Förkans allied themselves with North-Eila in exchange for protection against the invaders.
As relative newcomers to the kingdom, their culture is similar to that of the people of East-Óltrat, being based primarily on raising Hyrnings and other livestock and weaving rather than agriculture, though their religion is heavily influenced by the eilatogían tradition. Förkan musicians, particularly flautists, are highly sought after both to entertain at the court and to play during religious ceremonies.

Common Myths and Legends

The patron deity of the Förkans is Nexþei Natúlei, an aspect of the rain goddess Nexþei associated with music, particularly drummers and flautists, who's worshipped as a separate deity elsewhere.
