Common Myths and Legends
In ancient times, the main deities of the banfirdans were Óhena, goddess of wisdom and writing, and Hirþílena, goddess of Naba Lake. Before the lake dried up, Hirþílena's temple in Fírehas had a fountain within which poured water over the goddess' image, which gradually obscured the statue's features.
Since the lake's disappearance and Fírehas fell into ruin, the god Ahes -associated with laws, healing and wisdom- has become the patron deity of the banfirdans and husband of Óhena, while Hirþílena is now little more than a epithet for the rain goddess Nexþei in her role as protector of wells and lakes.
