Jelran

The centre of Federal control, of the Federation

Jelran will rise from this great sacrifice, it will be celebrated eternally through all Federation history. Never again will those of Aladran look down upon their neighbour.

Jelran, sometimes referred to as Kyra, is an unary star system within the Sector of Iomhare. It's most prominent feature is the planet Envis, an ecumenopolis world that serves as the de-facto capital of the Federation of Anfieden and Allied Planets. The deep space city of Marellon, and the accompanying Federal Jump Station are also found within the system. Adaren, an Envien moon, is the only other incorporated world in the star system.   The system contains 7 planets, orbiting around the sun Jelran Prime. From closest to furthest from Jelran Prime the planets are Mavik, Dunlar, Usenia, Envis, Andixes, Eron, and Sarua. Envis is the only planet in the system with a naturally breathable atmosphere, alongside its moon Adaren, and a moon of Eron, Czes. Two planets and fourteen moons have undergone major or minor Terraforming efforts, supporting major colonial efforts across the system. These planets and moons hold only small populations however, and are thus not Federally Incorporated.   Jelran is considered a fully extracted system, and each planet has been extensively mapped and mined. Its most valuable mineral exports are Ancrysl and Ovaltal, which are used in the construction of orbital space stations and small civilian craft. The majority of resources used by the mammoth shipbuilding industry of Envis are imported from designated mining systems, with the planet exhausting its own supplies centuries ago.

Jelran Prime

At the core of Jelran is the aptly named Jelran Prime, a K-type main-sequence star. It shines a golden orange that has become a major symbol for the entire system. Jelran Prime is among the 9 Iomharian Stars, and is unique as the only untouched star within this group.
The star is protected under both Sector and Federal law, and is often referred to by activists as the standard by which all stars should follow.

The Planets of Jelran

The closest planet to Jelran Prime, Mavik is a small terrestrial world with an incredibly thick, sulfuric atmosphere. Slow but massive windstorms encircle the planet, constantly blanketing the surface. Mavik shines a dull orange to the naked eye, on a rocky, crater ridden surface.   The planet was most well known for its deep deposits of Ovaltal, found within the planet's lower mantle. However, major mining operations using autonomous equipment throughout the 4th millennium sapped the vast majority of the planet's natural raw materials. The remnants of these operations, resistant to the harsh conditions of Mavik, have long peppered the planetary surface, considerations of the dangers of the world stopping any recovery operations.

Dunlar is the second, and smallest planet by mass within the Jelran system. The planet has always been considered a barren world, with an atmosphere so tiny that it is almost entirely useless. Dunlar is tidally locked to Jelran Prime, and therefore varies extremely in temperatures.   If only to claim human colonisation of the entire system, brief settlements have emerged on the planet, almost always on the dark side. These settlements quickly struggle, lacking a permanent population willing to brave the conditions of Dunlar, and the absence of any resources to trade. The longest lived settlement, Ratham in the 37th century, only survived as long as it did thanks to a number of rich Envien benefactors. When the money eventually dried up, so did the people.

Usenia, the third planet of the System, is a Class III Gas Giant, considered on the smaller side compared to many of its contempoaries. As a Class III Gas Giant, Usenia is cloudless, with the average temperatures of the planet preventing cloud cover seen in Class I and II Gas Giants. It is unique for existing further from its parent star, Jelran Prime, than most Class III Gas Giants, a quirk attributed to the close orbits of the inner three planets to the star.   Usenia provided the vast majority of the gas materials utilised for Envis Galactic Shipyards, including propellant, and energy generation. It was considered extracted to orbital security in the 42nd century. Cleanup operations cleared orbital and atmospheric equipment in the 44th and 45th centuries, with only monitoring stations remaining.

Envis is the fourth planet of the Jelran System, and the only to be naturally habitable with a breathable atmosphere. It is almost universally regarded as the most powerful planet in the Galaxy, and serves as the de-facto capital of the Andisien Federation.   Today the planet is an ecumenopolis, and has an extremely artificially improved atmosphere, it was however, originally considered a Near-Horizon world. It was first formally colonised in 280AC, though human settlements had emerged from its discovery in 84AC.   While initially rich in many natural minerals, Envis has exhausted all of its raw materials, instead relying on nearby mining systems to supply the mammoth city of Envien that encompasses the surface.

The fifth planet of the Jelran System is the partially terraformed Andixies, a large terrestrial world home to nearly three million residents. A barren world across its non-terraformed regions, Andixies succeded where Dunlar failed thanks to its once enormous resource deposits, including some small deposits of Astrosten.   Despite the planet being long extracted, its citizens developed a unique identity separate from the nearby Envis, causing many to remain even after the corporations departed. Today they mostly survive on food exports, developing hydroponic facilities that transport billions of tons to Envis, where they can ignore the strong restrictions on interstellar goods.

Eron is the largest planet within the Jelran System, and is an incredibly routine ringed ice giant. It is most well known for its pale blue appearance, broken up by many 'Great Spots', each areas of high-pressure storms lasting many centuries. The most well-known is the Eron Eternal Blot, observed shortly before the formation of the Federation of Iomhare and lasting into the modern day.   Where Usenia contributed to Envis' domestic shipbuilding industry, Eron's own resources were used to contribute to the Federation's terraforming projects, which included the Encassing of Envis. Again, much like Usenia, it was extracted to orbital security, though later, in the 46th century, with cleanup operations ongoing.

Saura is the seventh and final planet of the Jelran system, and is a cold terrestrial world that was most well known for its large deposits of Ancrysl, an icy-crystalized metal that was vital in constructing the smaller civilian craft and many orbital stations constructed by Envis Galactic Shipyards.   Even before official colonial efforts throughout the rest of Jelran began, Saura was already being heavily mined for its materials. Most of its exports went to Anfieden and Adiri in the nearby Aladran system, where they were able to gain a large amount of wealth and influence in the New Terran Republic. The planet was mined extensively for just over four millennia, before finally being considered fully extracted in 4089AC.
