Donni of the Eastern Peninsula

Making their homes principally in the easternmost peninsula of Samaya and spread along the rest of the east coast, the Donni are believed to share ancestry with the Liddinawths: an offshoot of the Viisianari that took to the seas sometime during the Orckid Conquest. Some suggest that the gem-colored eyes of the Samayans are signs of their link to the Viisianari, and that holds especially true among the Donni, who consider themselves the guarantors of a time when the Viisianari and the Samayans coexisted peacefully.   The Donni are considered the maritime masters of Samaya. They navigate the eastern wetlands with coracle boats and rafts, seeming almost naturally disposed to navigating the waters in a way that the Gau cannot match. Additionally, generations of seafaring has made Donni citizens workers of choice for sea trade. This mild proclivity for commerce casts a dark shadow on Donni reputation, but such prejudice is ill-founded: for every Donni shipowner, there were two Gau shipowners who employed the Donni for their superior skill. This situation has reversed in modern times with the fall of commerce, as the Donni continue to sail their ships and do business with Liddinawths and Milos and even Eysland, but those who despise them would do well to recall that the Gau were equally if not more responsible for the creation of Samayan ships.
