Seoi of the Western Fields

The Seoi are sometimes called the Cousins of the Monosi; this is rarely spoken in kindness. Much like Monosi peasants, the Seoi grow their crops and fodder their livestock in wide open fields, living both as tyrants over those who have no land, and as subjects to the whims of sun and wind and sometimes even tides. Many of the wealthier Seoi hire warriors to stand guard over their great fields, as for every one field-owner, there are hundreds who go hungry and live on their mercy. It is even said that the brutal concept of knighthood has infested the area, and that some of these mercenaries deign to wear metal plates and ride enslaved Monosi horses, fighting one another so that Seoi field-owners might dispute who possesses what land. Many of these folk will say the legendary Chaugeung was a knight, but such an idea is better unvoiced outside of the Western Fields.
