Brevessarian

Also called Vainans. The Brevessarians are the people of Vaina, sometimes called the Eternal Kingdom, the only realm considered to have survived the occupation of the New and Old Orckid Empires without significant damage to their way of life. Though considered earthen-skinned, they have had a wide range of complexions even before the intermarriage, immigration, and emigration of recent times. Brevessarians are stereotypically associated with slenderness, grace, and slightly short statures, though of course they are as diverse (of not moreso) as any other people. They were fairly unique in Kynaj for many centuries for bearing exclusively black hair and eyes, but political marriages with Monos, immigration of Eysch settlers, the occasional Mornal refugee, and the mass emigration of many peasants west into North Monos have increased aesthetic diversity. Like the Viisianari, the Brevessarians were utilizers of High Magic before it vanished from the world. Unlike the Old Orckid Empire, however, High Magic in ancient Vaina was exclusive to the royal classes. Even the nobility were restricted from its higher mysteries. This has led many to believe that Brevessarians (and Viisianari) have something in their blood that facilitates magical power.
