Azarad

Sometimes called Fortune or the Faith of Fortune, Azarad proclaims that the Eternal Realm is neither above nor below, but somehow coexistent with the Mortal Plain in a way that we cannot see. The Eternal Realm is a place of clarity, where existence tends toward order and control, but it is populated by millions of divine beings that seek to foster chaos in the Eternal Realm, as they consider chaos to be a supreme and ecstatic manner of existing. These divines achieve this by trying to interact with the Mortal Plain, which is of course a world of chaos, filled with mortals who strive to foster order. By expelling order into our Plain, they may also extract some of the chaos from our world and bring it into their own, where it might be tended like a garden for their enjoyment.   It is these ethereal interactions with our world by divine agents that cause the Mortal Plain to sometimes lurch toward order. Miracles, both great and small, are ascribed to these divine beings. Most Azaradi call these beings diei, though their actual names and forms are unknowable.   Most sects believe that there exist one diei for each mortal. The problem, of course, is that diei are immortal, residing in the Eternal Realm, and thus their numbers are ever increasing, while mortal populations ebb and flow. One might expect this to lead to an acceleration of order in our world, but since the diei are themselves beings of chaos, the swell of their numbers makes it more difficult for them to achieve their goals. Pious Azaradi pray to the Eternal Realm in hopes of attracting the attention of diei, that they might inject good fortune into their lives.   There are three major sects of Azarad: the Church of Disorder (the largest and most influential), AnAzarad, and the Unifiers. Some believe the Xaltri faith to be another sect of Azarad, while others consider it anathema.
