Session 79: There never was a Hilda and a Helga

We are talking to Claudette Frinkle. A couple of us have just noticed we lost our money pouches. Ms. Sargood has just walked in.
 
She's human middle aged dressed in a professional way. Sargood is another name that was floating around in some of our heads.
 
We are in Silverton. There are not a lot of visitors here. It's mostly dwarves here, but the local government is mostly dwarves.
 
Ms. Sargood walks over and greets us. Hazel asks her first name and she says her name is Hilda Sargood. Her sister is Helga.
 
We make small talk. Hilda works at the exchange- Helga stays home a lot??? She's mostly home bound??? has been since their parents passed away. Hilda doesn't visit too often.
 
We all escort Ferris to the exchange with Hilda.
 
Elias gets a weird vibe from this town as is if it isn't necessarily everything it seems here.
 
We get to the exchange and Hilda pays Ferris out for the goods he has delivered.
 
Hazel buys some blueberries and items to make a pie so she can bake a blueberry pie for Helga. Hazel has a theory that Helga hates apple pies and Hilda keeps bringing her apple pies, because she doesn't like her sister. She wants to test this somehow by bringing a blueberry pie.
 
We head over to the blacksmith, Rotmoore Evenmight. We note a really fancy sword he has hanging on his wall. He claims to be able to make the weapon more powerful for only 2GP. Hyadr leaves his handaxe with him.
 
Chetn and Hyadr head to the tavern to check on Ferris. The rest of us head back to Claudette's bakery to see if she'd let Hazel use her oven.
 
Claudette offers to make the pies for Hazel in exchange for the leftovers. They''ll be ready in the morning.
 
We end up running into Father John while loitering in the street. We decide to go search the church for the lost pouches.
 
We find a hidden compartment...and just as Ash is convincing him to just let us peak inside, Franz knocks him out with a frying pan....wtf???
 
We actually find out that he DID steal the pouches. We talk to him and we learn that some guy named Krackle has ruined the town. The miners work for Krackle now, and the town is really suffering for it. Ash ends up letting him keep her money pouch for the poor.
 
He used his past life skills of stealing to take our money. He tells us that silver has stopped coming out of the mines. We don't know if it's because it is depleted or being transported elsewhere.
 
Father John suspects that Helga is up to something....something feels very wrong with her...she doesn't come out often. but she does oversee the mining operations....we aren't sure how this is possible.
 
We head to the SlipperyDragon tavern for the night. Bril Momun, the keep of this tavern welcomes us. He tells us Ferris is in his room with Chetn and Hyadr.
 
We meet a dwarf named Ton Flatbush. He works in the mines. He tells us they are having to dig deeper and deeper to get to silver. They broke through to a new section, and instead of natural rock formations, the stones look built...as if they were a structure.
 
They broke through and discovered there were creatures beyond that that weren't friendly. We think they may be nothics living in there. These creatures ended up fleeing and the mine is sealed temporarily now. They hope to have it open in a day or two.
 
We decide to maybe go investigate the mines....first we ask Ferris if he knows Krackle. He tells us Krackle is plaguing silverton and is making it's way into the hollow. It's a strong drug overtaking people. Miners say it gives them more vigor, strength and focus, and it's very addictive. Nobody knows where it came from.
 
Franz leaves Fred to protect Ferris.
 
As we leave the tavern, Bril looks at us suspiciously. Hazel tells him we are looking for Krakel. He immediately and quietly says he will sell us a bar, and we accept.
 
We notice the foil is labeled krACKEl....Hydar and Ash have herbalism kits and want to study it, but first we go to the mine.
 
However, when we get there, there is a cave in we aren't totally prepared to deal with, and get a bit stuck. We decide to go check out the exchange. Its about 11pm. Chetn tries to summon something helpful but gets a couple of owls and a bore and she ends up having to escort it out of town.
 
Elias picks the lock of the Exchange and we break in. We end up making a huge mess and Elias drops some owl feathers to make it seem like an owl did this. Chetn leaves her 2 owls in the exchange to make it more convincing.
 
Elias was able to lock up perfectly so that nobody could detect it was unlocked. We go back to the tavern. We get some sleep.
 
We go get the weapon that Rotmore improved. Hyadr doesn't notice anything crazy about it, but he takes it. We go pick up the pies, then we head towards Helga's house.
 
We see Hilda on the way. We tell her where we are going and she wants to join us. We approach the mansion as we approach the front door, darts start flying towards us.
 
We are running behind Hilda through the house. She gets away from us and into another room. She's out of site.
 
We fight....Hydar goes to use his axe and finds that it's really fucked up and now he has -2 to hit and do damage.
 
We take some damage, but we defeated the enemies. Now we just have to find Hilda/Helga.
