Carol Danvers <WIP>
Captain Carol Susan Jane Danvers (a.k.a. Vers | Car-Ell | Captain Marvel)
Captain Carol Danvers, is a Human-Kree Hybrid who gained superpowers as a result of exposure to concentrated Tesseract energy.
After gaining her powers, she was taken to Hala, where her memories were supressed and she was lead to believe she was a Kree Super-Soldier.
After regaining her memories, she teamed up with Genis-Vell in order to destroy the Supreme Intelligence and free the Kree from its warmongering.
She was instrumental in ending the Kree Civil War and was present on Hala during the Phalanx Crisis.
Although she spends most of her time off-world, she is an auxillary Avengers and fought with them against Thanos.
Physical Description
Physical quirks
Danvers is half Kree, and even before her exposure to Tesseract energy, possessed greater strength and endurance than humans of a similar build and fitness level. She is also unusually heavy for her size, a result of her more dense Kree muscle fibers.
Her internal organs appear human under medical examination, but she was diagnoses as asthmatic as a child. No inhaler was found to be effective, and it is likely that this was actually a result of the relatively low nitrogen content of Earth's air compared to Hala. The effects of this lessened as she grew up, as her body adapted to Earth's atmosphere.
Special abilities
Following the absorbtion of Tesseract energy, Danvers possesses Super-Strength, Self-propelled Flight, Energy Manipulation, and can survive in space with little or not protective gear.

Personal history
Birth & Early Life
Carol Jane Susan Danvers was born in Boston, Massachusets. Unbeknownst to the family, Danvers's mother Marielle Danvers was actually Mari-Ell, a Pink-skinned Kree and member of Starforce who had been sent to Earth to investigate a possible Skrull infiltration of the strategically located planet.
Her mother was recalled to Hala when Danvers was a small child, and she and her half-brother Steve were raised by their father alone. Although a loving parent, Joseph Danvers held old fashioned views on women, and did not support Danvers in her desire to become a pilot, believing it to be a man's job.
Despite her father's lack of support, Danvers enrolled in the U.S. Air Force shortly after her eighteenth birthday. Despite the attitudes of her fellow trainees, and the officers, she eventually became one of the Air Force's best pilots.
During this time she met and befriended Maria Rambeau, one of the only other female test pilots. The two quickly became close friends. Rambeau invited Danvers to move in with her and her young daughter Monica. Although Monica was already a toddler, Rambeau made Danvers Monica's god-mother, so she would have a recognised role in the child's life. They raised Monica together, and Monica regarded her Auntie Carol as her second parent.
Meeting Mar-Vell
Air Force regulations at the time did not allow female pilots to fly in combat zones, regardless of their rank or skill. The two women were therefore assigned as test pilots for Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S, a joint S.H.I.E.L.D, Air Force and NASA inititative, under the control of Dr Wendy Lawson.
Lawson was impressed by both women's abilities, but especially Danvers's. She became a mentor figure to Danvers, and the two worked closely on the project. Lawson, in reality the exiled Kree scientist Mar-Vell, was working on a light-speed engine powered by the Tesseract. Her intention was that the engine, once fully functional, could be used to exacute civilian populations threatened by the Kree-Skrull War, especially Skrullian populations.
Realising Starforce had tracked her - and by extension, the population of Skrullian refugees she was protecting - Lawson asked Danvers to fly the Asis to her laboratory (located on a cloaked ship in high earth orbit) to warn the Skrulls.
Before they could leave atmosphere however, they were attacked by a Starforce ship. Despite Danvers's best efforts, she was unprepared to face an enemy with the level of technology available to the Kree Empire, and the Asis was shot down.
Lawson had been injured in the crash, and seeing that Danvers had noticed her blood was blue rather than red, she explained the truth to her, and asked her to memorise the laboratory's co-ordinates. Lawson then tried to destroy the Asis, to prevent it falling into Imperial hands, but was shot by Yon-Rogg before she could manage it.
Seeing no other way of preventing Yon-Rogg from getting the Asis, Danvers did what Mar-Vell failed to do, and blew up the ship. This caused a massive explosion of energy, which was absorbed into Danvers.
Starforce
Yon-Rogg took the unconcious Danvers back with him to Hala. There her memories were supressed by Supreme Intelligence LIX, and a photon inhibitor chip was inserted into her neck in order to contain her powers.
When she awoke, after recieving a blood-transfusion and other medical care, she was told that she was a Kree Super-Soldier, and the chip in her neck was the source of her powers. Based on the damaged remains of her dog-tags, Yon-Rogg told her that her name was Vers, and that she had lost her memories due to an injury in the Kree-Skrull war. She was also told her entire family had been killed by the Skrull, to explain why she was the only member of the supposed 'Vers' bloodline on Hala.
For six years, she was trained and monitored by Yon-Rogg and Supreme Intelligence to ensure no memories of her former life were surfacing, and to integrate her into Kree society. The impressed Kree collectivist thinking on her, although elements of human (and especially American) individualistic thinking still surfaced.
Eventually, she was deemed combat ready, and was assigned to Yon-Rogg's Starforce unit. Their first mission together was to locate and rescue a Kree spy who had infiltrated the Skrull settlement on Torfa. However, the Skrull were aware the attack was coming, and Vers was captured by a band of Warskrulls, lead by Talos.
Using a Rigellian memory reader, they attempted to discover the fate of Mar-Vell from Vers, but instead managed to unlock some of her hidden memories. They attempted to question her about the images of Mar-Vell they had seen in her memories, but Vers denied knowing her, believing the buried memories to have been planted by the Skrull.
Vers was able to escape her restraints, fighting off the Warskrulls and stealing one of their escape pods. However, Talos fired on the pod as it was leaving, damaging the controls, and leaving Vers no choice but to attempt a crash landing on a nearby planet, classified by the Kree as C-53.
Unaware that she had landed on a pre-FTL planet (or that C-53 was in fact Earth), Vers attempted to make contact with Starforce. She was eventually able to repair her damaged communicator, making contact with Yon-Rogg and informing him of her location.
He ordered her to stay put and wait for extraction, but Vers had realised that the Dr Lawson from her unlocked memories was the same face as the one chosen by the Supreme Intelligence when speaking to her, and she was determined to uncover the truth about Dr Lawson.
S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Nick Fury attempted to arrest her, but they were attacked by a Warskrull. Vers saved Fury’s life, and then pursued the Skrull. He dropped a crystal, which she retrieved, but was able to escape. On inserting the crystal into her suit, it replayed the memories retrieved by the Rigellian machine, but the crystal was destroyed in the process.
The clearest of the reclaimed memories were of a bar where Danvers and Rambeau had often drunk. Stealing a motorbike and a map, she located the bar, but found Fury waiting for her.
After determining that he was not a Skrull, she agreed to work with him. From a photograph of a jet on the wall of the bar which she recognised, they were able to determine that Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. was important to her in some way.
They travelled to the Joint Dark Energy Mission Facility, where they encountered Lawson’s supposed cat, Goose, who remembered Vers, although Vers did not recognise it. They found records of the Light-Speed Engine experiments, and Vers realised Lawson had been Kree, as her notes were in Kree glyphs. They also found records which confirmed that Maria Rambeau was the last person to see Lawson alive.
Vers reported her progress to Yon-Rogg, who told her that Lawson was Mar-Vell, but insisted she had been working on behalf of the Empire. Vers tried to ask about her own past, as she had found a photo showing herself, Rambeau, and Lawson together in the file, but Yon-Rogg denied that she had ever been to earth before.
S.H.I.E.L.D, who had been infiltrated by the Skrull, attempted to stop them. Vers rescued Fury and stole a S.H.I.E.L.D. Quadjet (a precusor to modern Quinjets) to get them to safety, only discovering after take-off that Goose had stowed away on the plane.
They travelled to Louisianna to find Maria Rambeau. Vers explained the last six years to Rambeau, and talking it through, as well as looking through some of her things that Rambeau had kept, allowed her to begin to piece together her memories.
Talos broke into the house, and persuaded Vers to allow him to tell his side of things before she killed him. He revealed that he had found a recording of the Asis crash, and listening to it allowed Vers to finally understand what had happened, and that Yon-Rogg had killed Mar-Vell. She finally allowed Talos to explain that, at least in the most recent re-ignition of the Kree-Skrull war, the Kree were the agressors, and since the destruction of Skrullos the Skrulls being hunted by Starforce were mostly refugees rather than trained Warskrulls. Vers then agreed to help him locate Mar-Vell’s laboratory before Starforce arrived on Earth.
Aiding the Skrull
Danvers used their stolen quadjet, which had limited space-flight capabilities, to fly the group to Mar-Vell’s laboratory, the co-ordinates for which she remembered. Danvers was able to use Kree technology to decloak the lab, allowing them to enter it.
Talos was delighted to find the refugees were still alive, including his spouse and child. Exploring the lab, Danvers and Rambeau found the Tesseract.
Starforce had seen the uncloaked lab, and attacked. Yon-Rogg was able to use the photon inhibitor chip to remove Danvers’s powers, forcing her to fight him hand to hand. Due to greater skill, and possessing Magnitron Gauntlets, he was able to knock her unconscious, allowing the Supreme Intelligence to connect to her.
During a mental fight against the Supreme Intelligence’s control, Danvers’s straining to access her powers broke the inhibitor chip. She woke up in the lab with access to her full powers. She tried to give the Tesseract to Nick Fury to protect, but he didn’t want to touch it, so Goose swallowed it. Danvers ordered them to get Goose and the Skull refugees to safety while she held off Starforce.
She tricked Starforce into thinking she had the Tesseract, keeping them on the ship and defeating most of the team. However Yon-Rogg realised she was bluffing, and followed the Quadjet in the Starforce ship, firing Danvers into space when she tried to follow.
Danvers fell through Earth’s atmosphere, and discovered just before she hit the ground that she could now fly. Using her newfound powers, she was able to shoot down Yon-Rogg’s ship before he could damage the Quadjet.
Yon-Rogg had called in the Accuser Corps to support him. Ronan the Accuser arrived at that moment, and opened fire on Danvers, but she was able to destroy their missiles and fighter ships. She confronted Ronan, releasing a massive energy pulse to demonstrate how powerful she now was. Recognising that they were outgunned, the Accusers retreated.
Danvers then returned to earth to confront Yon-Rogg. He attempted to convince her that she should fight him hand to hand, but, realised she had nothing to prove, Danvers used her powers to defeat him. She then placed him back in his ship, powered the damaged engine with an energy blast, and set it on a course for Hala, telling him to tell the Supreme Intelligence that she was going to end the Kree-Skrull war.
After saying goodbye to her friends on earth, she left earth with the Skrull refugees to seek a new home for them, eventually assisting them to settle on Tarnax II.
Kree Resistance
With a new Skrull homeworld established, Danvers turned her attention to the Kree.
She initially focussed on destroying or diverting Kree war-ships. During the Kree-Nova War, she assisted the Nova Corps. During one battle, she met a Kree double agent, Genis-Vell, the son of her old mentor Mar-Vell.
Although naturally suspicious of both spies and Kree in general, the two bonded and quickly became good friends. Like her, Genis-Vell had become disillusioned with the Supreme Intelligence. While Danvers was somewhat suspicious of most Kree, Genis-Vell restored her faith in the species, convincing her that the problem was with Supreme Intelligences rather than the Kree themselves.
Following the end of the Kree-Nova War, the pair turned their attention to their ultimate goal of destroying the Supreme Intelligence.
Using the contacts Genis-Vell had developed and technology developed by Mar-Vell, they concocted a plan to destroy the Supreme Intelligence.
The Cyborg Resistance were able to smuggle Danvers into the basement of the Database, while Genis-Vell used his rank in the Kree Navy to request an audience with the Supreme Intelligence, and bribed the guards to leave the building.
He then placed Power Conductors around the Supreme Intelligence’s chamber, while Danvers did the same in the basement. By firing an energy burst into the conductors in the basement, it would be transported to the corresponding conductors in the Supreme Intelligence’s chambers, destroying it.
Unfortunately, they were betrayed by the Supreme Intelligence’s assistant, Bun-Dall, and the chamber was sealed with Genis-Vell inside. Realising this would be their only chance to save his people, Genis-Vell instructed Danvers to continue with the plan, and respecting his sacrifice, Danvers did as he asked, destroying both the A.I. and her friend.
After his death, Danvers could not bear to remain on Hala, and so she left, trusting that Genis-Vell had been correct, and without the Supreme Intelligence’s corrupting influence, things would improve.
The Savage Land
Danvers returned to Earth to recover and reconnect with Maria and Monica Rambeau. Although several major events occurred while she was on Earth, such as the Ultron Offensive, Rambeau persuaded her to trust the Avengers to fix them. Danvers agreed, on the condition that she would step in if the threat was alien.
She lived peacefully with her family for some time, recovering physically and mentally from the long years of war.
Eventually however, the High Evolutionary landed on Earth, seeking the Reality Stone. Using his advanced technology, he converted part of the Antarctic into a jungle dubbed the Savage Land.
Seeing the events reported on the news, Danvers realised that the High Evolutionary must be an alien of some kind, and went to investigate.
She attempted to battle the High Evolutionary, but he was able to apparently turn off her powers with one of his machines, and she was defeated and imprisoned.
While imprisoned, she met James Rhodes, who had been investigating the Savage Land on behalf of the Avengers when he was also captured.
Working together the two were able to escape, but on their way out discovered that Aikku Jokinen, an A.I.M, scientist who had accompanied Rhodes, was not dead as Rhodes had believed, but had been captured by the High Evolutionary. As she did not appear to be in immediate danger, Danvers persuaded Rhodes that they would do better to come back for her once they’d recovered their strength.
While making their way to the edge of the Savage Land to call for help, they were rescued from a dinosaur attack by Ka-Zar who revealed that he had been a kitten Rhodes had rescued on his first day in the Savage Land, now evolved into a Beast-Man by the strange power of the Savage Land.
After resting and eating with Ka-Zar’s tribe, Danvers found her powers were beginning to return. Rhodes's armour, which had become a fully sentient Synthezoid as a result of exposure to the Savage Land, refused to allow Rhodes to enter it. However, it did agree to send a message to A.I.M. In return, Toni Ho sent an upgraded War Machine armour designed to be resistance to the effects of the Savage Land.
Now back to full strength, Danvers, Rhodes, Ka-Zar, Arsenal-Alpha, Zabu, and some of Ka-Zar’s tribe attacked the High Evolutionary’s headquarters to rescue Jokinen.
Danvers battled the High Evolutionary in order to distract him from the rescue. She was able to destroy the machine he had used to limit her powers, but as an Elders of the Universe he still proved extremely strong.
The rescued Jokinen revealed that the High Evolutionary intended to keep expanding the Savage Land in order to grow more Beast-Men, which could lead to total environmental collapse.
Working together, the heroes were able to stabilise the Savage Land, though they chose not to destroy it completely due to the unique species and the people who lived here. Before leaving, Rhodes entrusted Ka-Zar with the job of monitoring the Savage Land and preventing anyone else from accessing the controls.
Kree Civil War
Fighting the High Evolutionary made Danvers realise that she was bored on Earth. After saying goodbye to her family, she left to check on the Skrull settlement on Tarnax II. However she quickly discovered that in her absence a new Kree war had broken out, between opposing factions of the shattered Empire, and was disrupting Space-travel.
She found a Kree captain, Phy-La, who was willing to give her passage in exchange for Carol helping Phy-La’s ship, the Utopia, to protect a group of refugees who were trying to get to a refugee camp in Kymellian space, which she did.
Having seen the good the Utopians were achieving, Danvers decided to put off her visit to Tarnax II and instead remain with the Utopia, helping them in their humanitarian work. However, only a few days later they received news that, after they left, the entire Refuge was destroyed, with no survivors.
Convinced that the Sons of Koth must be responsible, Danvers and Galen-Kor took the Utopia’s escape pod to the last confirmed location of the Sons of Koth's flagship, the Ronan.
They located the Ronan, but as they were making their way to the bridge to find the officers, the ship was attacked by a Phalanx unit. Galen-Tor was converted, and realising there was no way to save him, Danvers abandoned the ship and returned to the Utopia.
Danvers realised that the Phalanx, being essentially techno-organic zombies, were a threat to everyone on both sides of the war, and the Utopia’s priority needed to be stopping whoever was creating them.
They knew the Phalanx ship had come from Hala, but Phy-La insisted it was pointless to even try to stop them, since going to Hala would mean fighting Emperor Genis-Vell.
Danvers was horrified to learn that the head of the Kree Imperium was her old friend, but it only made her more determined to stop him. As she was preparing to go alone to confront him, Phy-la revealed that she was actually Phyla-Vell, Genis-Vell’s sister, and agreed to help Danvers stop the Phalanx.
They lured the Emperor and the leaders of the Sons of Koth to a meeting by pretending to both leaders that the enemy faction was preparing to surrender. However during the meeting, it was revealed that the Phalanx were no longer under outside control and intended to convert everyone on Hala.
Despite the chaos around them, Genis-Vell was only interested in Danvers, blaming her for the Phalanx attack, and she was forced to fight him.
The Utopians were able to get a group of survivors into the ruins of the Database, and Carol instructed them to call Tarnax II for help, which they did.
As the ships from Tarnax II took away the survivors, Glah-Ree gave Phyla-Vell the Nega-Bands, making her strong enough to join Danvers in battling her brother. It was only when he knocked his sister out of the sky, almost leading to her being killed by the Phalanx, that Genis-Vell finally came to his senses. Realising there was no other option, Genis-Vell sent Danvers and Phyla-Vell away and then blew up Hala, killing himself and the phalanx in the process.

Danvers's father and brother are still alive, although she has not seen either of them for a number of years.
Although neither of them ever put any label beyond friendship on the relationship, Danvers's relationship with Maria Rambeau more closely resembelled a romantic relationship. As well as living together, they raised Monica together as co-parents, and shared a great deal of emotional and physical (although not sexual) intimacy.
When Danvers returned to Earth after destroying the Supreme Intelligence, they discussed their relationship for the first time, and agreed that although there had once been more than friendship between them, they had both moved on during the years of their sepperation. They remain best friends.
Monica was extremely hurt by Carol's decision to return to space after regaining her memories, but they were eventually able to repair their relationship, and Monica still considers Carol to be her second parent.
