Legolass Darkblade
Legolass Darkblade
Legolass Darkblade, born Legolass and often operating under the moniker Pandora Jones, is an elven rogue and member of the famed adventuring group the Breadwinners. She is most notable for her semi-possession by the sentient sword Bastion during the Great Dragon War. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
During the Baldur's Gate Uprising, Legolass fought alongside Mariana, Malachor, and Eilidh to stop Alexander Rake. They succeeded, but the extreme amount of magic emanating from Rake's cloak caused Bastion to awaken. The sword initially portrayed himself as an ally, sent by Ajest to protect Legolass. During a break on Stormbreak Island, Legolass met Akhros and Ava, both of whom would join Legolass and the others on their adventure. Legolass would also assist her companion Mariana in forcing the abdication of her father during the Siege of Salt Lake. Following the siege, Legolass and her companions officially named themselves the Breadwinners.
Legolass and the Breadwinners then joined Agent Viné Seraph of Force Grey in infiltrating the Cult of the Dragon's base in the Mere of Dead Men. After disrupting the cult's smuggling operation, the Breadwinners stumbled upon Yssondreneth's Tomb. While fighting the froghemeth guard, Legolass was swallowed by it, and Bastion convinced her the only way for them to get out was to allow the sword to merge with part of her soul. Legolass had no other choice, and Bastion broke them free, but Legolass's face looked different upon reemerging. Her fair complexion has splotches of dark skin and her white hair began turning brown and shrinking. The Breadwinners had a run in with the Reverse Funnel System adventuring group in Silverymoon during their mission to steal the Book of Draconic Rituals. After this last mission, Legolass and the Breadwinners were given full authority to act on behalf of the newly formed Council of Waterdeep. At their direction, the group engaged in many missions. In addition, the The Breadwinners were joined by the bard Esme, whom the party met as Mariana's one-time lover.
History
Early Life
Legolass was born in 1399 to unknown parents. Forced to fend for herself on the streets, Legolass went from orphanage to orphanage, city to city, stealing her way to live. This changed in the early 1470's, when Legolass was caught trying to pickpocket the wizard Ajest. Ajest was impressed by the young thief and took her in, seeing that she had no where else to go. The next few years were perhaps the happiest of Legolass's life. Ajest cared for Legolass, teaching her about the world, magic, and other things the young elf had never dreamed of knowing. However, Ajest never disclosed to Legolass his involvement in the secretive Hand of Mana. In 1478, Legolass came home one day to find Ajest missing and a strange ornate rapier sitting on the main table. Legolass assumed the weapon to be a parting gift from her mentor, when, in actuality, the rapier was a powerful sentient artifact named Bastion. In Ajest's attempt to seal away Bastion, the old wizard was forced to lose both his body and soul to the blade. However, Ajest succeeded in rendering the blade inert. Legolass took the blade with her and made her way back out into the world, returning to her thieving ways. In 1487, Legolass joined a daring operation to steal from the hoard of Lennithon, a blue dragon. The mission was only partially successful, as the crew obtained some gold, but the act of disturbing the hoard drew Lennithon's attention, who descended upon the thieves with a fiery vengeance. Legolass escaped with her meager earnings and her life and, aware that dragons hold grudges, used those funds to buy her enrollment at Gregory Tumbleton University in 1490, knowing that its Aethercore would protect her if Lennithon returned.Early Adventuring Days
In her first year at Tumbleton University, Legolass met fellow classmates Mariana Goldfinch, Malachor, and Amber when the four of them saved Eyleth Veral from the Cult of the Dragon. Following a year of studying abroad, Legolass returned to Tumbleton with her three companions on the 9th of Elient, 1491, in the midst of the Cult of the Dragon's raid on the small town. Legolass helped fight back against the cult, but was recognized by Lennithon, who was assisting the cult in the battle. She was almost killed by the dragon before he was ordered to retreat by Don Rel. Legolass and the others followed the cult to their nearby hideout, where they assisted in rescuing Ser Vich from his restraints. Legolass was then recruited, alongside her three classmates, into assisting Ser Vich rally the forces of the Sword Coast against the Cult of the Dragon. While taking a stop in Elturel to meet with Onthar Frume of the Order of the Gauntlet, Legolass met Marquess Jessabelle Leonin for the first time. Legolass assisted Leonin in getting Baldur's Gate to join the burgeoning anti-Dragon Cult Alliance by investigating the Cult of the Dragon's infiltration of Baldur's Gate. During the course of one investigation, while the students were attempting to infiltrate the gang of Lysara the Grin, Amber was tragically killed. Legolass later aided the Order of the Gauntlet member Eilidh Stormheart in stopping Lysara.During the Baldur's Gate Uprising, Legolass fought alongside Mariana, Malachor, and Eilidh to stop Alexander Rake. The Breadwinners
In addition, the The Breadwinners were joined by the bard Esme, whom the party met as Mariana's one-time lover.
Missions for the Council of Waterdeep
Legolass and the Breadwinners fought and slayed the white dragon Arauthator in his lair on Oyaviggaton. They also captured Varram the Blue, one of the Cult of the Dragon's Wyrmspeakers. The Breadwinners were then dispatched to the Kingdom of the Woods by Prince Alagarthas to uncover the source of recent dragon attacks. The investigation in the woods would be the first time Legolass would use her alternate persona of Pandora Jones. By this time, Bastion's control and influence over Legolass had grown to the point she appeared to be a half-elf, and Bastion could speak through Legolass's mouth. During the battle against the Green Wyrmspeaker Neronvain and his dragon Chuth, Legolass killed Eilidh while no one was looking under Bastion's influence, absorbing her soul. Bastion only relinquished it in exchange for even more of Legolass's soul, which she agreed to. The Breadwinners were also assisted in their fight by Emmyth, who told Legolass she could find redemption through Corellon. In late 1492, Legolass assisted the Breadwinners in negotiating with the Metallic Dragon Council. To secure their alliance, the Breadwinners recovered the Staff of Shadowfell Sundering, which had been stolen from the copper dragon Tazmikella, from the ruins of Ken Asari. There, Legolass met the long dead soul of Castellon, a cleric of Corellon, who showed her that Corellon's power was enough to free her of Bastion. Legolass joined the Breadwinners in clearing out Xonthal's Tower, the future home of her companion Ava, in the failed mission to recover the Helm of the Red Dragon. She would also participate in the successful negotiations with the Red Wizards in Thay. During the Battle of Hardbuckler, Legolass participated in the attack on the new Green Wyrmspeaker, Amara, in the failed attempt to neutralize her during the Battle of Hardbuckler. During the Battle at the Well of Dragons, Legolass and the Breadwinners spearheaded the infiltration of the Well itself, slaying Don Rel and preventing Tiamat's resurrection. However, Bastion took advantage of the amount of souls involved in the ritual to force Legolass to absorb them all, obtaining his true power and taking Legolass's body for her own. However, Legolass was saved and revived by Corellon, who bestowed upon her a godly sword that mirrored Bastion. The Breadwinners fought Bastion and all the souls he had collected, including Ajest's, in a hard fought battle that killed Malachor. Legolass managed to stab Bastion with the final blow, freeing all of the trapped souls and rendering him inert again.Life After the War
Following the Great Dragon War, Legolass attempted to live a righteous life in order to repay her debt to Corellon. However, she found herself unable to resist falling back into her previously criminal ways. Doing so caused Corellon to withdraw his protection over her. Worried about getting on the bad side of a god, and knowing she had made many enemies in her life, Legolass began slinking away from public life. After a while, appearances by Legolass became sporadic, her friends never knowing when she was coming and going. What she is currently up to remains unknown.Mental characteristics
Accomplishments & Achievements
Legolass gained the epithet "Darkblade" during her time with the Breadwinners for her distinctive black blade. Though she mysteriously hadn't been seen with that blade since the Battle at the Well of Dragons, the name stuck.
Mental Trauma
Though she has no spoken of it, most people close to Legolass have noted that her near death experience with Bastion has shook her greatly. Losing control of her own body has caused the rogue to have a fixation with control and being able to do as she wishes, even to her own detriment.
Social
Contacts & Relations
Legolass's relationship with her companions in the former Breadwinners is varied, as befitting a group put together in such a rag-tag fashion.
When Legolass is in Waterdeep, she often meets with Eilidh Stormheart, Mariana Goldfinch, and Esme Heavensong. However, these visits are few and far between, and Legolass has not visited her friends in some time.
