Aethercore

The Aethercore is a powerful magical shielding device. When active, it can cover a large castle in a dome-like field, preventing anything not authorized from entering. The Aethercore can be used to bestow a mark onto certain people and creatures, allowing them to bypass the shield and allowing others to gain access as well.
In 1491, the Aethercore was located in Tumbleton, where it was protecting the Gregory Tumbleton University. It was stolen by Don Rel, who was masquerading as a professor. In 1492, the Aethercore was recovered by the Breadwinners at the Well of Dragons and returned to Tumbleton.
