Cloak of the White Dragon

The Cloak of the White Dragon is one of the six pieces of the Armor of Tiamat, formed from the scales of the first white dragon.   It was worn by Alexander Rake during the Baldur's Gate Uprising and is currently in the possession of Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

On its own, the Cloak of the White Dragon appears to be an ornate cloak made of white dragon scales fit for a large creature. However, when a creature touches the cloak, it shrinks or grows to fit their size. When worn, the cloak melts into the wearer's back, burning away the flesh and causing large white wings to sprout.   With time and proper attunement, the Cloak of the White Dragon can grant its wearers many abilities. The cloak can cover weapons in a magical frost or alter spells to deal cold damage rather than their base effect. A properly trained user can also revert the dragon wings back into a cloak. The cloak can also allow its wearer to transform into a white dragon of increasing age, depending on the wearer's level of attunement with the item.

Significance

The Gauntlet of the Black Dragon was created from the first white dragon as a way to preserve their power even beyond death. As a piece of the Armor of Tiamat, the gauntlet resonated with Tiamat and could assist in her summoning, as attempted by Don Rel during the Great Dragon War.
