SEABRIDGE COMICS PRESENTS:
The Vandals in
The Wars to Come
The
Vandals brought Becca Marlow back to
The Clinic where they met up with
Dutch. Working as a team, they got
Vendetta hooked up to the med labs operating table, and managed to treat her wounds. While she was recovering, the the Vandals watched
Gail Jordan-Gordon broadcast from
Grapevine, and heard the Adjucator
Camilla Marko labeling them as reckless vigilantes.
Becca explained how her mentor in the
Steel Panthers brought her in on assassination of a pit boss from
Twice Lucky, a man she thought worked for
The Syndicate. It turns out the smaller gangs in
The Lowlands don't like the Syndicate's controlling ways, and the leader of the Panthers,
Lockjaw, hates the current order more than most. So Becca wasn't surprised that he would take a chance to strike at them, and assumed his secret contact was someone from
Las Plagas. Everybody knows the
Red Spider isn't happy about losing
The Canyons, and everyone has been living in fear of the day when the truce is shattered.
When the gang turned on her, it all but confirmed her suspicions, it seemed Lockjaw didn't trust her with a secret that would be a death sentence for the whole club if the Syndicate found out. However, while in hiding, she learned that the man she'd helped kill was actually in
Las Plagas, not the Syndicate. This wasn't LP scheming to take out a Syndicate rival without violating the treaty, this was far worse. A mysterious third party, looking to kick off a gang war in the streets of
The Lowlands.
Vendetta received a call from
Mother Superior, who was furious with Charity for violating the Nightstalker code, and demanded she surrender her gear and retire as Vendetta. For possibly the first time, Charity stood up to Mother Superior, and refused to give up on her friends or quit her mission. Vendetta, emotionally drained and feeling lost, revealed her identity to the team. Charity and
Kinetic bonded and supported each other.
Becca told the Vandals that Lockjaw would likely meet up with his secret contact at his annual underground bike rally, although she didn't know when or where it would be held. Colt and Rani decided to meet up with Colt's father,
Brett Buchanan, to see if he could help. Colt tried to keep it a secret from Joni, but Kinetic slipped up and an argument ensued. Ultimately, Colt would not back down and went to meet his dad. Brett was overjoyed to see his son and agreed to get the two of them into the rally as his guests.
Vendetta,
Disruptr, and
Big Sis went to find
Tony Staxx and get their own lead on the rally. Joni had a bit of a meltdown about Colt seeing his deadbeat dad again, she was clearly worried about her brother's feelings and also dealing with some abandonment issues of her own. On the way to
Werner and 17th, Dutch called Vendetta, he was badly injured after being attacked by the
Nightstalkers. The Vandals all rushed to help him and save Becca who had been taken by the Nightstalkers.
The Vandals found Becca, tied up and branded, the inverted sun symbol of Anastasia burned onto her chest. There was a tense stand off with the Stalkers, and a fierce debate about how criminals should be punished.
Wrath lead her team away into the shadows, but not before telling Vendetta they would be praying for her to find her way back to the light.
