Nightstalkers
A team assembled by Mother Superior to carry on the traditions of their namesake. They are drawn from orphans at the Saint Anastasia Orphanage and School, who were discovered to possess latent Shifted abilities and are judged faithful enough to be redeemed through service.
Other heroes who have operated with Mother Superior have questioned the ethics behind putting children on the fronts lines of her war. But the Nightstalkers have proven to be as much zealots as their founder, each willing to lay down their lives to the end of chasing the mythological Shades from the planet. (There is no proof such Shades exist, but they provide a good rationalization for pummeling criminals.)
Recent internal tensions have resulted in one of the team, Vendetta, leaving the team to set off on her own. Mother Superior continues to monitor and mentor her pupil, and provide resources as long she stays the course.
The Nightstalkers are known to ride customized Kawasaki Ninja motorcycles, fitted with bulletproof armor and glass. They ride these through the catacombs under the old city, which allow for swift travel to missions and mysterious escapes when need be.
Divine Origins
The ancient Nightstalkers were a renegade sect of the Illuminated Church of the Golden Sun, who believed that Shades actually walked the earth as men and thus hunted and executed them. The Nightstalkers operated globally through an underground network, with chapters in every city. In the late 18th century their activites became overt enough that the Church had to take action, declaring them heretics and hunting them to the woman.
