Philénua hatched from the first Udsundach-affected egg that was ever saved by means of a special casing. After she herself lost two clutches due to that condition, she welcomed the opportunity to adopt the orphaned clutch of her cousin Sivinus de Nimýrhém. She further decided against trying to have children of her own, knowing that any children who might survive would be likely to inherit this fatal flaw.
