Tower Interior

Geography of Synthacrosia

Floors of the Tower

Synthacrosia's floors are extremely varied. Each floor attempts to encompass an entire theme; Strength, Dexterity, Health. Each floor is supposed to symbolize that which makes up a soul. Because of this, some see the higher floors as more elite floors; they see the height of the floor as a correlation to worth. Some see the lower floors as the more important floors, as the lower floors act as a foundation for the rest to come.   Locorin designed the towers floors after his ideal image of a complete soul. He used his own system of judgement to decide the order of the floors, and to decide the content found within them. Whatever ideas he held within his mind are lost to time, as his plans were never shared with a living soul.

The early floors

Floor 1

The Floor of Strength
The entry point of Synthacrosia; this floor houses the Coalescent Dome , where new souls arrive. In the old days, it was inteded to be a peaceful area to help ease new arrivals into the afterlife. However, after the clockwork awakened, the entire floor chaged. Ground was shredded, reduced to basic rock and dirt, as the clockwork harvested all available materials. Civilization grouped itself together into two small cities within Floor 1, and knowledge of the upper floors was quickly replaced with fear of the clockwork.

Floor 2

The Floor of Dexterity
Quiet, peaceful; a waterfall from the sky feeds a lazy river, winding its self through the floor. The river hides a nasty secret however... The water is tainted, afflicting all who touch it with a terrible curse. The denizens of this floor make their living sailing up and down this cursed river, specialists who are used to the unsafe conditions. The floor has three main cities; Beachcastle , Tamworth , and at the head of the river, Weirborough . Residents of floor 2 haven't seen anyone from floor 1 in over a thousand years.

Floor 3

The Floor of Health
Coming from the lush green forest and lazy river of Floor 2, ascending souls are immediately thrust out into a harsh desert upon climbing the stair to floor 3. The heat and dry sand swirl about through ancient white stone ruins. The desert exerts one other power over those who enter it; thirst. A previously forgotten desire, unfelt during the time spent in floor 1 or 2. At the center of the floor is Sanctuary ; a large swamp, and respite from the heat.

Yes... I think I like the early floors a lot. There's something about them, this divine simplicity that speaks to me. The people are friendly, comfortable at their point in afterdeath. They feel no need to progress farther, to climb higher. That, and it's wonderful to see the new arrivals. I like to sit in the Coalescent dome, witnessing as each new soul realizes they can live once more. It's a great feeling.

The Middle floors

Floor 4

The Floor of Study
An ocean torn between periods of raging storms, or uneasy calm. A brief war tore through this floor many years ago, driving a wedge between not only the higher floors, but also between the two cities of floor 4 -- Wandermere and Blackridgepool . The war sundered an important artifact previously in Wandermere's possession, a Ring Gate . The Ring Gate now swirls through the ocean, wreaking havoc on ocean currents and climate.

Floor 5

The Floor of ███████

Mysterious, and unknown. History of the 4th floor shows that at one point, hundreds of years ago, denizens of floor 5 assembled and attacked floor 4. First they came in a small group, only partly comprised of clockwork. Later, they came with an entire clockwork horde . More information to come for this floor soon. The theme, layout, and overall arc of the floor has yet to be revealed, as the party has not yet reached it. Once the campaign reaches this floor, this will be updated!.

The Starstone Architrave
by Stormbril
Mentioned once, very briefly, during Locorin's Final Words . As he lay dying, he urged the party onwards, telling them they must reach the top of the tower, the Starstone Architrave . Only here would they find the power to stop Jaxton Saleg , the one who has been tainted by The Dark One. More information to come for this floor soon. The theme, layout, and overall arc of the floor has yet to be revealed, as the party has not yet reached it. Once the campaign reaches this floor, this will be updated!
