Sparks Character in Star Wars: Shards | World Anvil

Sparks

Beskar Aran techie genius

First campaign appearance: Shards of Honor 30.0 "Thief of Dreams"

Private Sparks Vorysadora

VNY's notes:

He's gone Tinker.
His favorite part of the advanced training to join the Roughnecks was apparently the "nine hundred new uses for grenades" part.
He's a little less comfortable about joshing with his designated chaplain and his personal favorite ever smuggler captain and/or spiritual advisor than the other Roughnecks are, but a little patience and a few more examples should get him over the worst of his awkwardness.
For a brief while, he achieved the lofty rank of Corporal but he did some of that "sneaking my electronic self into places where I ought not to be" stuff and got busted back down for a while. Mostly because, when Captain Rico asked him if he wanted to say anything about his misdeed, Sparks snapped out a prompt "Worth it!" and never even bothered imply the "sir" that tradition recommends in these situations.
I dunno what he did exactly ... but I am very proud of him!
Anyway, now that he has the experience of earning a promotion, I'm sure he can do it again. Once he's ready. Maybe Yeager can offer some advice?

Social

Contacts & Relations

The Beskar Aran have close, private, strong ties to Gregor Vortapani and Katianna Vortapani, which they are extremely careful to keep circumspect. Only an ego-driven idiot would suppose that this loyalty travels in a single direction. The higher-ranked the member of the organization, the closer is the tie to the Imperial Family. Sparks in particular has served several long-term rotations on Imperial Princess Katianna's staff.
Anyone who knows what a "chaplain" is, knows that Jedi Knight VN Ysadora and Knight Errant Davish Tam will answer a call for support from any Beskar Arran. Anyone who knows the little phrase "the clone's Jedi" would also know that "Vanya Ysadora will pause almost any other work to appear out of the empty space if one of the Roughnecks asked."
From first meeting on an assignment in late 12725, Sparks got along well with Captain Eleni Benacor of the Mismatch to the point that he tried to figure out a way into her Orange Catholic faith. The obstacles he never resolved there were (1) the prohibition on falsehoods, (2) the prohibition on killing humans specifically, and (3) the prohibition on "thinking machines" which many faithful translate as an abjuration of unwiped droids. Nonetheless, Sparks is favorably inclined toward Abbess Benacor to this day, and she reciprocates that fondness.

Master Sergeant Jenkins notes:

Sparks is into this godawful holovid series called "Jenny Sparks Rewrites History" that no one can pry away from him because, fair point: it's leagues better-written than Jedi Quest. But that's the entire point of Jedi Quest!

Private Sparks notes:

You're darned tootin', it's written better. If you would watch, you would get into it too!
And yes, for the nine thousandth time, I know she's not named after me. Shut up. I found the series while doing a data crawl on intel about us in the HoloNet.

Quotes & Catchphrases
Ma'am, attempting to bribe a member of the Imperial Staff is not just stupid. It's treason. Now I gotta call a Judge, and fill out flimsiwork, and investigate your lifetime financial history, and if you try to bribe your way out of the bribe charge then I'm going to be here all afternoon. Please stop.
