Episode 3.09: Escape Velocity, Chapter 7

Aboard a mysterious ship bound for the Outer Rim, Captain Aerena Kolene and Jedi So’zen Al’Saba are thrown together by an unexpected twist of fate. Meanwhile, Danar Vorpadaran ventures through the Chalcedon wormhole, tracking an encoded signal from a strange TIE fighter.

Little do they know, the legendary KATANA FLEET, led by the evil SARGON XAN DARAN, lurks in a nearby system. This lost Imperial Fleet has almost completed a devastating new weapon, threatening the entire Alliance of Worlds.

As the initial tests of this sinister device warps spacetime and the Force itself, Aerena Kolene and So’zen Al’Saba are pulled from hyperspace. Suddenly their ship, and Danar Vorpadaran’s is hit by a massive wave of Cronau radiation that threatens to rip them apart…

Components

Goals

In a strange twist of fate and the Force, So’zen Al’Saba has arrived through a wayward Infinity Gate connection with Zaye Kerplocken and her children aboard a mysterious exploration ship. The same ship piloted by Captain Kolene and Master Sergeant “Hicks”, TC-157, fresh from being unexpectedly diverted from Spacer’s Tears in the Chalcedon system toward an unknown destination.

Meanwhile, an assault shuttle with Danar Vorpadaran, Errol Vondromas and Steelrush left the hyperspace rift to enter a system. They were chasing down the destination of a mysterious signal sent by a lone TIE fighter piloted by a disguised combat droid. Inside that ruined star system, a fleet of Imperial ships lie in wait. Dark. Silent. Predatory.

Then a flash of light, a spear of power, burned across real and hyperspace all at once while the Force twisted out of shape.

After that everything went dark.

Captain Kolene, So’zen, and their companions were brutally yanked out of hyperspace into an asteroid field. Their ship drained of power save for the emergency backups powering life support, gravity, and minimal ship systems.

Meanwhile, not far away in the same system, the wave of energy battered the assault shuttle with Danar and his companions. The ship drifted, left in the same state of only emergency power.

They weren’t alone. Ships, some familiar, other not drifted near powerless. Some were light freighters, others bulk transports, while some were merely fighters. Pirate craft.

Then there was the looming presence of an Imperial fleet. The legendary Katana Fleet, once thought lost.

Slowly, a trio of gray-trimmed, black TIE fighters from the fleet fly among the derelicts and escort a block-shaped freighter. One by one, they scan each disabled ship in turn. Some, like the bulk freighter, is escorted back to the main Imperial Star Destroyer. But other ships, like the pirate craft, are destroyed immediately.

Desperate Measures

Now, the heroes have to scramble before the Katana fleet survey team reaches their ships. It seems they are willing to keep freighters. But anything smaller is blasted to atoms.

All the while, in the cargo hold of the Starrise Falcon, the ship carrying Captain Kolene and So’zen… the strange alien artifact in its hold rises into the air, starts to spin, and glows with an inner light.

By her people's custom, that sacrifice immediately made her bond-wife of Vance Kerplocken himself, as her children become his heirs and dependents. Lady Zaye is calm; reserved; formal; and deadly, She could be a great ally of Lord Danar Vorpaderan, if such an individual ever trusted her enough to create a true friendship. But why is she a relatively impoverished Chalcedonian at the mercy of the bondwife custom when her adopted father is the great Grakkus the Hutt of the Ponua Kajidic?
  • Steelrush. A male Shalent Aw'akeen. Steelrush is a professional explorer, scout, and historian.

  • Raven Guard, A group of former Royal Guard and other Sith fanatics that follow their own twisted take on the Mandalorian Creed. They have allied themselves with Sargon Xan Daran for unknown reasons.
  • Eborrean Collective, a rumored threat from beyond known space, these militaristic, Quarren-like people are said to have a military base on Yavin IV. Eborreans have not been anything but hostile to life in the known galaxy. The Explorers have discovered these people may be at the mercies of a parasitic species that perhaps feeds off the very Force itself.
