Thauma Magallana

Welcome to Solaris, traveller! This is a slower-than-light science fantasy set in our own solar system.
About Solaris | Guide to Solaris | Prologue
Few have dwelved as deep into the mystic arts of Neptune as Thauma Magallana. Their magical talent sets them apart as one of the leading prospective heiresses of Neptune. They are deeply connected in the academic institutions and societies of Neptune. Thauma is the head of the student council at the Imperial Trident University, and an undefeated champion at Kneel both at ITU and in the competitive circuits.   As one of the leading candidates for the new Empress of Neptune, many hope that Thauma's ascension would usher in a new age of magic. Not in least because of Thauma's personal convictions. Where most mystics operate from the shadows, Thauma thwarts convention. Rather than obscuring their power, Thauma proudly projects their potential. They believe it is time to step into the light, and remind the Sol System of the true power of Neptune.

I was with her until "remind the Sol System of the true power of Neptune". Not directly a threat, but threat-adjacent...

Thank you! Threat-adjacent is a great word for it!

They certainly seem as though they would be a different kind of empress, but I wonder if their rule would be for the best? Agree with Rin, last line is threat adjacent. :D

Scarily enough it's ultimately up to some higher power, though I suppose you could try to stack the deck in your favour with a strategic uh... unaliving.

Huh. So Keystone =/= feminine? Interesting... Has there ever been a masculine Keystone?

Jun 18, 2024 13:02 by Annie Stein

Yes, the current keystone of Uranus is sometimes called called the keystone prince, and the keystone before Titania of Venus was Arielle, who was genderfluid and would frequently present masculine.

Wait, the Keystone of Uranus? The article only mentions Theseus. What are they (?) like?

I haven't gotten around to writing their article yet, but they're in my outline/on the list of characters I want to get around to writing about! They're pretty headstrong, they really enjoy hunting monsters (the more dangerous, the better) and they're a big flirt. I envision them looking rather princely, androgynous in a way where they're both pretty and handsome. I think they'll be very fun for me to draw.
