WorldEmber 2022 Pledge
Here we go again!
I pledge to complete at least 5,000 words of new worldbuilding in the month of December, 2022. I pledge to not attack myself if I don't reach that goal. I also pledge to prioritize my comfort and happiness over anything, including WorldEmber success.

Hello again!
This is the second year I have participated in WorldEmber. The first year was a blast. I talked about it in last year's pledge and reflection article, but I want to reiterate just how important WorldEmber 2021 was for me. I was in an incredibly dark place and the community on Discord was a much-needed source of positivity.

Wordcount Goals
Unfortunately for me, life is still hard! Funny how that works. Because of this I am once again setting my aspirations low. I know I am capable of 10,000 words (last year is evidence!), but I also know that putting that pressure on myself is going to cause more stress than I need. I was doubtful last year that I could pull this off, and frankly I think I'm more doubtful this year, but the important thing is that I'm going to try.
Personal Goals
Even though I am still doubtful I will be able to complete WorldEmber this year, I am much more excited for it than I was last year because now I know what to expect! The joy of WorldEmber is only half the completion of it. The other half is being creative with a glorious community of worldbuilders for an entire month! So this year I am going to try my best to participate in the community, whether I end up writing anything or not.
The Plan
World Focus
"If you have more than one world setting, which one is the most important to you right now? Why?"
I recently created Spiderworld, a Spiderman fan-world with my own spin on the universe and characters. I want to add a bit more life to that world so I think that will be my focus for this year. But SanZera will always be my favorite child, so it's very possible I'll just stick around here.
Setting Focus
"Which area of that world setting will allow you to achieve your goals? How will it help you achieve those goals?"
For SanZera, that would be the time question. I mentioned last year that I needed to get that calendar nailed down. Well, I have made great progress on that between now and then, but I still don't have any concrete articles. I have all of the ideas, I just need to make it pretty and put it out there, so it should be relatively easy for me to get some words done that way.
For the Spiderworld, I'm probably just going to have fun designing characters! The setting of Spiderworld is not nearly as complex as SanZera--it is just a Big City--so I'm not going to worry about it much. Spiderworld is meant to be a world where I can relax and just make up cool characters, so that's just what I'll do.
Also.. I want to come up with a proper name for the Spiderworld city so I can stop calling it Spiderworld.
Summary
I'm stressed and exhausted in the real world. WorldEmber needs to be a fun escape, not a prison. Therefore, I am setting a relaxed goal and prioritizing having fun over everything! I am eager to see what the rest of the community and I come up with this coming December.
I will repeat the affirmations I told myself last year. They have more power to me now. It's almost like when you speak more positively to yourself, it eventually starts working...
"This December, I hope to write at least 5,000 words of new worldbuilding. If I don't achieve that goal, that's okay! ... If I only touch on one [priority], or do something completely different altogether, it's okay! If I don't write anything at all for WorldEmber and this pledge just sits in the Meta alone, that's okay too!"
