I threw open the window and dumped myself inside, groaning. MJ barely glanced up from her laptop.
"Hard night at work, huh?" She asked, popping a skittle into her mouth.
Mary Jane Watson is a skilled investigative reporter for the Daily Bugle. She is also Reina Lockhart's long time best friend.

All of the walking that MJ does for work keeps her in generally good shape. She is small but sturdy.
Identifying Characteristics
MJ is most easily recognized by her vibrant red hair. She takes great care of her hair. When she's working, she carefully braids it into a professional up-do. When she comes home, however, she loves to toss the braids free and let it out in all its frizzy glory.
Almost every inch of her skin is peppered with freckles. She often wears wide-brimmed hats during the summer because she is especially prone to sunburn. She has a tattoo of a spider underneath her right upper arm.

Personal history
Mary Jane Watson was born and raised mid-Lauthon. Her parents divorced when she was just 8 years old, and she spent most of her public schooling being juggled from house to house. Her relationship with her mother was polite, but she often clashed with her father.
When she was in middle school, she met Reina, and the two became fast friends. Reina's friendship was a much-needed anchor in MJ's turbulent life. They became inseparable. When Reina gained her powers, MJ was the first person she told.
During college, Reina introduced MJ to one of her peers, Peter Parker. MJ was star-struck by Peter's intelligence, and he was amazed by her bravery and tenacity. They quickly fell in love and have been together ever since.
MJ earned a bachelor's in journalism, interned at the Daily Bugle, and was eventually hired as an investigative reporter. She loves her job, and always gives it her all. As a plus, it also happens to open a lot of doors to information that a normal civilian wouldn't have access to--information that someone like Spidergirl, for instance, might like to have...

Motivation
MJ strives to bring out the truth, no matter how ugly it is. She strongly believes that informing others is one of the best ways to fight against oppression and all other evils. She works hard to be aware of her own biases and conquer them.
Her ambition has gotten her in trouble more than once. The mob doesn't like people that tell the truth, and MJ has a running record of spoiling their well-kept secrets. She is aware that this sometimes puts her in grave danger, but she stubbornly refuses to back down from her stance. If she doesn't reveal the truth, then who will?
Relationships
History
Reina and MJ have been friends since middle school. MJ was the first person that Reina told of her secret identity.
Now, MJ helps with Reina's "work". She uses her research skills to dig up useful information and has a private cell line that she can use to directly call Reina at any time.
MJ's safety is of upmost importance to Reina. She takes great care to hide their alliance from Spidergirl's enemies.
The nature of Reina's job has resulted in a few rocky moments in their relationship, but their love for each other remains steadfast. No matter what happens, they will always be there for each other.
History
Peter and MJ were introduced to each other by Reina. They became fast friends, and not long later started dating. Their personalities click perfectly and they always love being around each other. They have been together for almost four years.
