It's a common tradition to let your fellow Hedonites revel in someone's first experience. The Cup of Legeri is how most do it, a special 'goblet' that anyone is welcome to contribute to with their drinks of choice.
It sure can make for a fun evening, if they can stomach the generosity of the room.
Welcome to the Party
Legeri's Cup, named after the Prince of Logic, is a Hedonite tradition that is practiced at every legitmate Hedonite Club. New attendees to Hedonite parties are encouraged to declare themselves at the doors to the Hedon Club. Once they enter, they are brought to the bar and given some of the house rules and a Legeri's Cup for the evening. The cups come in variety of shapes, sizes, and textures.
Legeri's Cup is a treat for the bearer; an invitation to socialize, mingle, and get free drinks from strangers. It also provides peace of mind, as the cups will light up to warn the user of potentially dangerous situations. For those who are not bearing the cup, they are encouraged to buy the bearer a drink if they are running low. It is also good ettiqute to keep an eye on the bearer of the cup for their safety.
Hedon's laws are fickle, and easy to break inadvertently, so pointing out the new attendees helps existing Hedonites to judge their company and act accordingly.
The Cup's for all of us, newbie. Means folks will be watching your back, making sure no one tries taking advantage of the fresh 'meat.'
Also it's free drinks, so no complaints. Now let's get you a pint of my favorite Brew!
Countless Forms, Many Purposes
The Legeri's Cup is not allowed to be empty. When a cup gets empty it is encouraged for other hedonites to fill it! It's considered a real downer on the party to have a newbie left dry.
Many of the Cups have a system for notifying others that their mug is running low or is on empty, making it easy for others to step in if a newbie is alone and needing a drink.
While it's encouraged to give the new attendees plenty to drink, it is also good practice to use better judgement and advise caution if the party-goer is getting a bit too crazy on their consumption.
I stopped buying them drinks after they chugged enough of the heavy stuff to keep them from standing up straight, was funny to watch them stumble back to the bar for a sober-up though.
Come on, don't you remember your first time?
The Legeri's Cup serves as a warning for Hedonites in the club. There are many 'experiences' to be had at a Hedon club, and to some unprepared partygoers it can be overwhelming. Having a Legeri's cup means partygoers won't push too many new things on you.
The cup is also a silent encouragement for other Hedonits to keep their eye on the new blood, and ensure no one is taking advantage of them and their lack of understanding of common Hedonite ways.
Sex, drugs, and other forms of debasement, done to levels and in ways that many find unfanthomable.
To us, it's Wednesday night!
How it Works
Each Legeri's Cup given to new attendees has tom come with a protector enchantment. These enchantments, typically made of Quartz, are a popular export of the Hypnagogic Order of Sol. These long rods are embedded in the mug to prevent tampering and can be identified by an proofing stamp of the Edenic Moon.
The purpose of this enchantment is to change color and alert the user to any adverse conditions affecting their drink. This comes off as a visible glow inside the mug that shines bright enough to be seen outside the container as well. The spell itself is a high-level liquid diviniation base with a low-level light enchantment programmed to trigger upon the discovery of dangerous additives.
Color | Intention |
---|---|
White | Tolerable alcohol detected (<40%). Enjoy! |
Yellow | High alcohol concentration detected (>40%). Caution! |
Green | Potent mix of alcohols detected (>50%). Caution! |
Red | Dangerous alcoholic content, (>75%). Beware! |
Blue | Non-Alcoholic Drugs detected. Beware! |
Black | The mug has been poisoned, seek help! |
Cups Galore
A Legeri's Cup can vary greatly in shape, make, and overall appearance. The original Legeri's Cup has a contested history, with many clubs claiming that they created the first one.
The default look of the Cup matches the original appearance of Legeri themselves. Made of Mother of Pearl, the iridescent white cup is common at most clubs that do not have it's own theme. The mug is shaped to be comfortable to hold no matter the hand size, and stands out in the dark with its reflective material.
A Legeri's Mug takes many shapes and sizes, but no matter the make they always include the Hedon Banner and the Prince's Symbol just below the rim.
Legeri's Symbol
The Symbol of the Prince of Logic is a ornate open book, wrapped in two olive branches.
Variations
Served at the Club Yonder Hedon Club located in Drat'n Metkrah, the affectionately named Mochi Mug is a whirlwind of colors that shifts to match the libations poured within it as well as the mood of the one who holds it.
The smooth handle and body of the Legeri's Cup is studded with a brilliant arrangement Geode Coral, and a low level divination spell reveals a soft Auric spell to help sooth away nervousness and anxiety.
The Pixel Cup, served at the Creative's House in the bustling arcology Victoriana City, the Pixel Cup created holograms of pixelized art from the projectors embedded in the mug.
The cup glistens and glows like metal underneath bright lights, and the holograms created will float and dance around the user to reflect their mood and status. Many other clubs especially in the Syndicate use this holographic style, but there is only one Original Pixel Cup.
One of the Original Legeri's Mugs ever made, the Emerald Grotto Cup is actually a plant grown in the Lyra Bathhouse in Nege-Tai
The Emerald Grotto cup is grown in the bar area. Green vines wrap around the bar and from it grow 'pitcher' bulbs that are cut and used as a Legeri's Mug. The water-tight pouch can carry alcohol with no issue, but on contact with other drugs will wilt. The purpose of this is to prevent new hedonites from ingesting undisclosed substances.
Keeping a Souviner
A Legeri's Cup can always be bought, the spell on the cup is seen as very useful, especially for those who travel or have to drink in less-than-savory locales. While the mug is expensive, the enchantment is long lasting, and since they come in so many unique designs, they are seen as collectors pieces. Many hedonites have an array of mugs stored away, and most will bring their favorite or first in their pack while they travel.
Aw, I love this. What a great tradition, keeping the newbies safe and sated.

Now the question I'd have is what drink you'd buy someone holding the cup? Glad you enjoyed!
I mean, obviously tea.
