Guess what! There's a book now! — (MxM, Thriller, Erotic)

Civilization of Earth

Earth is the seat of power to the Hypnagogic Order of Sol and they cradle of life of Humanity. It is only within the last couple millennia that Humanity has reached for the stars and taken flight to land among its many worlds, to grow, and expand, and thrive. Even with all this growth, however, Earth remains its home, a gleaming palace of a billion colors sprawling with criss-crossed swarms of glistening traffic and impressive edifices built upon.

The planet has grown and collapsed many times. Under its fresh growth and splendor are the old scars of world wars past—pockets with traces of radiation, forests turned to deserts, and swaths of land carved by the melting of ice caps. These scars do not mar the world, however. Humanity has rebuilt, it has made life from the ash and desolation of earlier eras.

And Humanity formed plenty of the dust of the ground, and breathed into its lands the breath of life; and the Earth became a living soul.

History of Earth

Before Industrialization

Post-Industrial Ecumenopolization

Late 20th Century

The 20th century was marked by increasingly reckless sprawl and consumption as humanity severed its connection to nature despite their dependency on it. Cities spread across the habitable lands in a tide of cement and steel. While there were promising glimmers of social welfare and a glimpse at a future where humanity supported one another, the worse aspects of their nature won out before it could come to complete fruition.

Holocene Collapse

Early 21st Century

Hand-in-hand with growth came decay. The oceans grew hot, and ecosystems fell like dominoes in a mass extinction event that touched every single aspect of the human experience. The old ways became untenable as land became unlivable, and amid constant storms and food scarcity, the foundations of civilization cracked, with unprepared nations buckling under the weight while the prepared ones struggled with the sudden influx of immigrants — many of whom brought with them the mindsets which contributed to the failures of their homelands in the first place.

This era is marked by a great dying which claimed the lives of a significant portion of the population and pushed the birthrates down so far that it took humanity over 100 year to return to the same population as before.

Rise of the Arcologies

Late 21st Century

As the world became a wasteland, the governments of the world attempted degrowth by consolidating the population of the urban sprawl into ambitious urban planning projects called Arcologies. This allowed for certain regions to be razed, and for new life to be planted there. Unfortunately, it was often too little too late for the planned environments, whose climate had so drastically shifted that they would need a new ecosystem designed from scratch.

A decline into silence followed. Most of the great civilizations of Earth were washed away beneath constant storms, bitter winters, and scorching summers. Only a few of the great cities remained. Every other city was a satellite in service to them and reliant upon them.

The Advent

First Contact

Early 22nd Century

As part of its ongoing space faring missions seeking deposits of rare earth asteroids for the construction of supermaterials, the [Amenomahitotsu?] detected an aberration in the L3 Legrange point relative to Earth. Upon sending drones to investigate, they discovered what would later be known as the Amanokawa Wayhall Gate. After years of scanning the surface, they found a cradle for a large orb, which fit a strange orb found on earth and kept under safekeeping by the government of (China?).

Upon installing the orb into the hall, the black pool of its surface activated, and a gate to a new dimension opened.

After some study and the loss of several drones, a manned mission was sent through.

They weren't seen for many months, and when they returned it was with an entourage of alien ships. On the other side they had found the Haimarchy-built and Aempian controlled [Temple of The Void]

Humanity was no longer alone in the universe.

The Adventines and The [Far Seekers]

Talks between humanity and these aliens, the Sazashi, began, brokered by Nippon - who had sent the scouts - and Aempis, who had captured them.

It became obvious quickly that there was a technological imbalance between the two. Nippon was advanced to the point of nanotechnology and near-infinite computation, while Aempis had only begun to discover circuitry and advanced textiles. Both were very guarded in what they knew, but Nippon became confident that it could claim the advantage of any conflict.

Peace talks and scientific missions began. Both sides agreed to send academic envoys to each other's worlds — Aempis and Nippon both sanctioned scientists from all around Earth and Jhoutai, and build directives called The Adventines and Far Seekers respectively. They studied the effects of pollution and climate change on Earth.

The Advent War

Aempian Occupation

Rebuilding the Ecosphere

Mid 22nd Century

The Aempian Lords occupying Earth begin funding efforts to stabilize the ecosphere. With the benefit of Masons and magic, the have enough leverage to begin making a difference. Earth will never be what it once was, however, the climate has forever shifted and has reached a new equilibrium that will take thousands of years to shift naturally, and Aempis fills many of the missing niches in the ecosystem by introducing species from their home world of Jhoutai.

Forced Conscription

Late 22nd Century

Although Aempian influence over Jhoutai and power over Earth seemed total, trouble was brewing on the home front, exacerbated by the innovations gained from plundering Earth's technology and resources.

For the first time, the common citizen had access to mass communication, while the Aempian Government had yet to develop a cohesive panopticon like those used to surveil the internets of Earth. This allowed for citizens to communicate and organize faster than their state could react and control, a weakness soon exploited by Aempis' Northern neighbor and longtime rival — The Malihai Thanatocracy — who flooded the Aempian internet with agents armed with infobombs of state secrets and conspiratorial misinformation, including about the Advent war and the Marinaniyan Territories.

Malisyk Assassins on Earth

The Development of the ra-zi serum

Guides on how to interrupt or outright disable important infrastructure

Back on Earth, the war softened the grip of Aempis' enough for the Rilaem to spark insurgencies among Humanity. Bombings and assassinations became commonplace globally. Crackdowns followed.

Aempis' quite nearly lost this war. Much of the royal family died during the height of the war, slain by Vinhibrani. Despite this, enough of the power structure and Jhoutigari -- bolstered by a population enraged by the lies of the Rilaem -- remained in order to launch counter offensives, and Aempis' survived the war with a new Emperor: Clasnithira Illitha Tor Khandea.

A reign of terror and nationalism followed, filing in behind Clasnithra's passionate and fiery rhetoric. His loyalists would no longer hear any truth but his own, and dissidents were exposed left and right.

"Everything I thought I was defending during the war turned out to be a ruse, and with Clasnithira in power even the ruse and the comfort it brought was dispelled. Aempis' took off its mask and bared the fangs of its smile." - Nicodemus Jadey / Gauge.

Blood Snow Offensive

The Banner Era

The Harrowing

Although the Rilaem war had ultimately gone in Aempian favor, the powers which funded and fueled it had not yet been entirely destroyed. They retreated to lick their wounds.

It was a rhetoric that wasn't popular in Aempis, but which gained traction on Earth and among certain extremist groups of Jhoutai. A coalition of wild Monoliths joined together behind the movement, including Immundus, Brood, and Crescendo, who called themselves the House of Sorrows. They whispered the ancient prophesies of The Harrowing: An age in which all Pantheons would be would be slain and abolished and magic itself would be entirely cleansed away and dispelled. No more gods nor masters.

The Bannercasting

With the threat of death to motivate them, members of the Haimarchy made an expedition to the Glimmering on Jhoutai to recover the lost Tower Index -- the Key to the other side of the Jhoutaioan Wayhall, kicking off the Bannercasting which shaped the modern era.
