Ogygia
Ogygia is a smaller island off the coast of Atlantis, governed by Kalypso, daughter of Kelaino, though it remains a territory of Atlantis.
Geography
Ogygia holds a single mountain, around which lies the small town of Marsa. Upon the mountain itself rests Prometheus's Aviary. The rest of the island is lightly wooded and rocky.
Fauna & Flora
Ogygia has no large animals native to it, but its forests and peaks draw an impressive array of birds, particularly around Prometheus's Aviary. Popular legend claims the eagles report all they see to Kalypso and her great-uncle.
Natural Resources
Unlike its parent island of Atlantis, Ogygia lacks Orichalcum veins, much less Ambrosia production. It has, however, become a site for the cultivation of exotic herbs and spices, ever popular in the city.
History
Before the Ambrosial War, Atlas ruled Ogygia as his homeland. The war began when Atlas seized control of Atlantis (then called Hesperides Island). Ogygia remained a tributary of Atlantis, and, eventually, Atlas granted Ogygia to Kalypso.
Given her history of insolence, Kalypso receiving Ogygia to govern was more banishment than reward. However, her great-uncle Prometheus chose to take her under his wing, given his close relationship with her mother. He built his aviary upon Ogygia's highest peak and trained Kalypso as an herbalist and naturalist.
In the years since coming to Ogygia, Kalypso has built up Marsa to be a decent trade hub, exporting spices including saffron, cinnamon, and thyme, as well as even more exotic fare. Unbeknownst to her great-uncle, Kalypso has also begun trading in Nectar.
