Nyxlands
The Nyxlands are a mythical land beyond Arimaspia. According to legend, the Time of Nyx ended in this forbidden northern waste. Yet darker tales claim that Nyx still holds sway there.
While eternal night does not actually hold sway here, nights do seem to stretch on hours longer than they ought to in this land, especially as one travels north toward primeval ruins now overgrown by twisted trees. The greatest of these ruins centers around a crater with an area of over 100 square meters. The bottom of this pit seems to vanish away into utter blackness.
Geography
Two great rivers carve up the Nyxlands, one running from the northwest, the other from the northeast before eventually debouching into the first. Between the two lies a great plain and twisted woodlands where the trees seem bent in pain.
The great crater lies along the western river. West of the river lie impassible, snow-covered mountains. Further mountains frame the eastern expanse of the Nyxlands, separating it from Issedonia.
Inspiration
In terms of location, I draw inspiration from Romania and Hungary.
