Ithaka Geographic Location in Eschaton Cycle | World Anvil

Ithaka

Ithaka is a mid-sized island off the coast of Delphi. Officially, Apollon owns the island, but he leaves its rule to mortal kings.   Generally considered the greatest of the Ionian Islands, the other island kings are traditionally subject to the King of Ithaka.   The capital is the town of Kefallinia, which sits within Cape Agios on the southern shore.

Geography

The forest-covered mountain, Neriton, dominates the island, with small villages and farmsteads located in its foothills and along the shores below the mountain. The mountain stretches some 5000 feet tall. The island itself covers an area of about 300 square miles.   Also within the foothills lies the expansive Melisani Lake.

Inspiration

Some scholarly debate remains as to whether modern Ithaca is the same as Homer's Ithaca. Here, I assume they are equivalent, but also merge it with Kefalonia.
