Ilium Settlement in Eschaton Cycle | World Anvil

Ilium

The largest and most important polis in Phrygia, Ilium was founded by Menoetius, though the original city was all but destroyed during the Titanomachy. Phrygians rebuilt their capital stronger than before and it became a symbol of their endurance.   The city sits upon a hill, well up from the sea, famed for its fortifications. The city centers around the royal citadel, a great palace from which the king can survey the whole of his lands. Beyond the citadel lies the so-called lower city, a place of markets, workshops, and tenements for the lower classes.

Defences

Cyclopean walls surround the city, broken by lofty towers, making the city nearly unassailable. Within the city, a second wall protects the citadel from the lower city.
