Delphi

Delphi, long site of the most famous Oracles of all Elládos, is dedicated to Apollon, whose temple sits upon its humble acropolis.   The city itself is, in reality, a fort located upon the slope of a small mountain. Far beneath the city lies a tiny port. Massive walls surround the city, built from rocks so large legend claims Themis called upon Cyclops to build the fort. Beneath these walls lie cyclopean tunnels that dig into the mountainside, creating catacombs, within which once lurked the dragon Python.

History

Delphi was founded by Themis following the Ambrosial War, as a site where Oracles could refine their gift. Though unclear how, this process held some connection to the dragon Python that lurked in the caves beneath Delphi.   Following the Titanomachy, Themis fled from Delphi (to found Themiscrya) and Apollon claimed the polis for himself, slaying Python. It has remained a site for Oracles since then, though some claim they never held quite so much gift as the ancient ones who stood before Python.

Inspiration

Delphi in the Titan Era represents a fusion of historical Delphi and of the city of Tiryns.
