Months in Tamia

The months in Tamia are simplified and much changed from how humanity used to record things. This is in part due to the influence of the faeries that first made contact with the refugee's that came to their land. Here on Tamia the months last roughly 90 days, and encompass a simple weather basis that revolves around the four seasons. Because of this unique calendar, it is common to have someone born on the 56th day of Frostfall, or the 88th day of Heatflow. These simplified months (really seasons but the humans couldn't stop saying the word month so it stuck) make for an easier time for most of the races and over the years it has been adopted all over the continent.

Frostfall

This month marks the beginning of Winter and lasts from the last leaf falling to the first thaw. The snows fall all month long across most of the continent, especially in the north where the snows can get up to at east three feet deep across the plains.

Riverswell

the time of Spring starts during the great thaw and lasts until the celebration of the Sun. Most of the rivers and even Crystal Lake swell with the run off from the northern mountains and life starts anew as flowers bloom all over Tamia.

Heatflow

This marks the time of the Summer and lasts until the trees start to loose their leaves. The sun beats down especially in the southern lands and melts the last snows over most of the north as well (except the Fields of Frost) The temperatures can reach up to 105 degrees across the plains of Tamia, and even higher in the Black Mountains.

Leafrun

This Is the time of Autumn and lasts until the first frost. This is celebrated by the followers of Krist as the time of dying as the leaves all over Tamia fall withering to the ground. The air gets colder and a chill creeps forward.
