Star Fall

Written by Salen

This is the account of when the continents were changed irrevocably by the fall of stars from the heavens. The Gods, angered for reasons unknown, threw down the heavens and decimated the world, punishing the races and washing most of the world in destruction. This reset the roll of years for everyone and after this event the adoptive SF (Star Fall) is used to record the years

Before the End

In the beginning, the world was made up of four major continents, the smallest of these being the relatively hidden land of the faeries, Tamia, to the far east. To the west was the large continent of Res'car, stretching from the far frozen north to the equator. The Harsh was a continent to the northeast that was frozen wasteland. and to the south was the Land of Sol. When the gods threw down the very stars in the night sky to punish the world, these land masses were devastated beyond measure. What was left was fragments, all of the major lands shells of their former selves. Res'car was all but shards left floating in the boiling seas around it. The harsh was left as a sliver of its former glory, and the Land of Sol was all but blasted rock. Only Tamia was left with minimal scars, shrinking in size but keeping its mass at least. The environment shifted, and the seas calmed and life could try and start over; if they lived through the darkness.

Hitting Home

In Tamia, the falling stars hit the seas around the island continent and caused great waves to swell up and crash upon its shores, flooding much of the coastline. The faeries that lived there scattered, fleeing the destruction for their lives, but it wasn't over yet. In the wake of the oceans wrath, the largest star hit the center of the great forest, bearing deep enough to crack the plates under the ground causing much of the land to shift and sink. The impact destroyed much of the forest around it in flames, but also flooded the hole with an underground lake. The flames were extinguished, as if by the Goddess the faeries worshiped, and much of their land was saved. This impact created Crystal Lake, so named because of the odd rock formations that were found near the impact site by the surviving faeries. It also created what they would call The Drop, and The fall, a place where the land remained high on the eastern side of Tamia and caused the great river to flow over the edge in a spectacular waterfall. Their population decimated by the floods and the fires, the faeries retreated from much of the land to their capitol of Nym and rebuilt; but would soon have to deal with newcomers.

Fleeing Destruction

As mentioned above, Tamia wasn't the only continent in this world. The main continents of this world were hit the hardest, fracturing into small island shards barely able to accommodate the survivors. These islands were renamed the Shards and were taken over by the strongest of the races, the Orcs. By far the most numerous of the races, they forced the remaining races to flee or be enslaved, taking most of the land for themselves. The refugee's came to Tamia from the seas and fractured lands and the fist humans, elves and dwarves set foot on the lands abandoned by the faeries.

The Lonely Isles

As for the rest of the lands, only two small islands remained. The Isle of Regret to the northeast and the Snake to the south. Not much is known about the early days of these lands, or what could be there now. These lands surely feel isolated as no ships have ever ventured out that far as of yet. Do they think they are alone? Is there anyone even left alive?
