Agnes' SC Homework 2026
My fight to try to get back into writing!
Summer Camp Homework
Week 1
Love
I think that they have quite an open view on love and sex in Darta. There is not so much taboo against different sexualities and constellations in relationships. Considering the multitude of races and gender expressions, you'd have to be angry all the time if you'd see it as taboo.
There are some rituals and festivals connected to different kinds of love. One is a very intimate ritual between partners in a romantic/sexual relationship, and another one is a big festival that celebrates one's different kinds of relationships.
People are close to their friends and neighbors. Many view their possessions as shared with their close friends, relatives, and close neighbors, and trade and borrowing is a common occurrence.
There is some kind of coalition between some of the gods connected to love, like the ones tied to parenting, sex, fertility, and farming.
Hobbies are "more common" among the more well-off people of Darta, because they have more spare time than those who have to work and labor all day. The common folk usually keep to more simple and lighter hobbies, like handicraft, while the richer ones can use their time doing more time consuming hobbies and those that might require more upkeep, like riding, hunting for sport, and shopping.
Pledge
And I'm back! I haven't joined the challenge for the last two years for multiple reasons (one of which was a cross country move), so I'll start slow this year with 8 prompts. One reason for it is also because I want to maybe try to join the Art Fight for the first time. We will see!
Hopscotch
Homepage and primerI haven't actually done much writing since last Summer Camp, where I updated the homepage and created the primer, so I think they still hold up.
Maps and timelinesRemoved two maps that I am not entirely pleased with, and left the two timelines that I have open because I wasn't sure how I felt about them ':D
Update metaActually did it this time! Haven't filled it out to 100%, but the majority is written.
Update old articlesI'm kinda having trouble with some of the worldbuilding in the early days of the world, like the gods that were much more present long ago. It feels important, but I just don't know what to do with that period... It's probably my perfectionism shitting with me.
Week 2
Growth
There might be a separate place for science and research from the academy. They would wirk more on hard sciences like the work with magical engines and such stuff.
There should be cities that grow and evolve because of new techniques and the explosion of work and novelties. Orebo is constantly growing as it is the capital, but other smaller cities can grow even more. Surusus is a working class city, with many opportunities and work offers. Many cities get new exposures as they are connected via the new railways.
Area of Focus
I think the best option for me is to focus on Orebo and all that surrounds my main story Revenge (working title), as well as the magic system and how it works in the world and in other stories.
Hopscotch
Area of focusMy earliest summer camp (2021) was kind of messy and all over the place. It was fun to write, but many of the articles don't really have anything to do with anything else. Last time I participated (2024) I was way more concentrated on writing about things that have to do with my stories, which felt much better. It gives the writing more purpose!

Orebo is the capital of Darta, and the story of Revenge is very focused on the royal family. This affects Darta as a country quite a lot, but they are not world-changing events. Important for the country, and affects the surrounding nations a bit.
The magic though, that's where the big influences are! The magic permeates the whole world, and it will be good to get a better grip on how it works, as it is not that clear yet.
Category structureI think the structure I have now is pretty good, so I don't think I'll do anything special for these coming articles. I just have to remember to tag the articles in the correct way so I can find them again!
Week 3
Loss
Darta is a country with humans as the majority people, and with their comparably shorter lifespan they are more used to the death of their close ones than other races might be. There are rituals for dealing with death, and they focus a lot on going back to ones root and reuniting with nature. One's ancestors and what they did to get you to the place you are today is also one part of the shorter lifespans of humans.
There is also a big part in Revenge with deals with the loss of a culture, but I feel like I can't get it quite right. Currently it just feels like an unjustified genocide, and it feels bad and stiff. I'll look into it during summer camp!
Of course I also have a big loss theme: the loss of the gods and the abundance of magic. I've probably written it earlier in this article, but this era of time is very underdeveloped, and I really need to change that!
Writing Time
I have a long summer holiday this year, and I'll only be working the last two weeks of July. I don't really have that much to write considering I only pledged to write 8 articles this time around, but I really want to try to be mindful and take care of the time that I write. A couple of hours for two times a week might be good? I have no idea how long it would take me to actually write it, but I have a lot of time to think about the articles outside of that specific writing time.
Hopscotch
Creative routineWell, as a perfectionist I do suffer from writing slowly, erasing and rewriting on my first go. This is very annoying and something I'm working on getting over. During this past year's school and writing a bunch of essays I have had time to try to write messy first and then editing afterwards, which has worked some of the time. Also, during most of the summer I am not at home, but living with mine and my partner's parents, which means I don't have my dedicated space for "computering". Hopefully this won't be too bad, but I'm aware that I can't do the things that I might do at home, good or bad.
WalkIt's so nice to be at home in my familiar nature! Yes, the mosquitos are super annoying but at least it's not ticks!
Other's articlesI have so many old notifications to read through (like, an embarrassing amount), so this was a good opportunity to go through some of them!
WreckerDwarf's article from Summer Camp 2024 is about a kind of musician in the dwarven society. After a hard day's work one deserves some entertainment!
Maybe being a cleaner has its perks? TaraFaebelle writes about the Bin Man who cleans at the university, and there gets to try out new tech.
Read a bookI recently finished Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert in preparation for the third movie coming at the end of the year. It was quite nice! A character being plagued with the inevitability of the future, but at least being able to control some part of it is a nice trait/trope. I also liked the thing about coming back to oneself after being dead. I was a bit confused about the way the book was written, with it jumping between character's perspectives without warning.
And I just borrowed Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson, which is a book about a nun who can talk to dead spirits, I think? It seems like an interesting read!
Week 4
Family
There is a respect and love to one's family, and especially ancestors. The dead are remembered and the living are loved and cherished. Families usually stay together until new family members join, like when your child finds a partner and they move out together. One of the exceptions to that is if a kid if sent to the academy to live there, or if someone moves in with some other kind of found family.
Family is seen throughout the pantheon, with the main one being Athiss as the original mother of all gods. The gods are connected via different bonds, and many of them are that of some kind of parent/child, though the conception of a child among the gods are a bit different from that of mortals.
Worldbuilding goal
I do mostly write for myself. It just comes up in my head, and I realized recently that I write a lot to process stuff from my own life! It feels good to use my characters as an extension of myself. Of course, it would also be nice to actually finish a story and publish it in some way! World Anvil has helped me tremendously with getting my thoughts in order, and both motivating and inspiring me to write!
Hopscotch
Articles for goalIt would be great to get some of the god-stuff written, as well as some kind of fixed storyline for Revenge. It it missing from my current writing and I just can't really get a satisfying finish if these things aren't done.
Buddy/communityAs always I have my supportive boyfriend who shares ideas with me, but I don't have anyone in this community as this kind of accountability buddy. I can always try to write some more in the discord though!
ReenergizeIt is so nice to be home with my family again and I will get energy from them and from my familiar nature!
Writing spaceWell this is gonna be hard, as I wrote in an earlier hopscotch. I'll be going a bit back and fouth between my parents' and my partner's, and there isn't really a one place for me to sit and write.
