Raven

Basic Information

Anatomy

The ravens are a species of medium sized black birds. They two slim legs and feet with claws and a straight large beak.

Ecology and Habitats

Ravens live in a wide variety of areas, but mostly in/near forests and by water. They are also commonly found in and around civilizations of all sizes, knowing that food might be easier to get a hold of.

Behaviour

A drawing in ink picturing a raven flying upwards. The wings are to its side and the beak is pointing straight up.

Ravens are often playful and can be seen jumping off ledges to fold out their wings as close to the ground as possible.

They are a flock animal, living close to other individuals and helping others scavenge and hunt for food.

Additional Information

Domestication

The Altari family have a deep history with the ravens and are the group most closely related to them. Some members of the family have owned domesticated ravens, or more accurately made pacts and cooperated with them.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The Altarians use the ravens for many different occations, most commonly seen as Raven messaging. The family breed ravens, and use the largest and intelligent ones during hunts as scouts and attackers.

Average Intelligence

These birds are very intelligent, sometimes showing behavior as if having considered the consequences. They can solve puzzles and remember individuals from other species.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

These birds have sharp sight and can spot a small mouse scurrying in a field of grass from far up in the air. Other senses such as smell, taste and hearing are quite bad.

They have a great sense of navigation, with a kind of built in compass.

Some other humanoid species have an ability to communicate with raves, especially those in the Altari Family. The family has a deep connection with the Raven god and the birds, and some individuals are able to, in a sense, talk to and understand ravens.

Bird buddies!! I wrote about Raven too. <3 I love both the similarities and differences, your spin on things. I am also just oddly fond of birds so I gravitated toward the article. Well done.

What would an ocean be without a monster lurking in the dark?
