Altari Family
Structure
The Altarians are the current royal family in Darta. They've had this position since 3168, when Ealdrid Altari exposed king Safaar Dazil of secretly working with a rivaling kingdom to receive power over both. She became the first queen of the Altari.
As a firstborn in the Altari family, the crown is yours to bear when the current king and/or queen dies or abdicates. The king/queen is the highest hierarchy of both the family and the country they rule. The children in the family are crown children, usually called prince or princess.
Those that may be seen as having a higher status in the family are those who are older, of great wisdom and have the ability to cloak. The Altari who have been sky born may receive greater respect than a king or queen who has not. Even someone who can communicate and sense the ravens have higher status than those who lack the ability.
Culture
The Altari is a family chosen by the divine nature. They have been gifted communication and the ability to turn into a dire-raven. The Raven god gave Taiel Harda a primary feather for their good faith (and help ...). This feather has been passed down through generations and is still used by those birthed by the sky today. To be a feather keeper is a great honor.
When the Altari has gone to battle, the ravens have always been on their side. They circled above the soldiers bearing the raven's emblem, making them an intimidating sight to see. Altari see flocks of ravens as a sign of good luck.
Public Agenda
As the royal family, the Altari want to be seen as good and powerful leaders. They try to govern the land as best they can, putting their people's wishes first. Even though they are a kind of monarchy, they want to make it easier for the people to have their voices heard and being involved in the decisions guiding their lives.
History
The first one to ever be called Altari was Taiel Harda. The Raven god gave them one of their primary feather for their good faith (and help ...) in 2989. This gigant feather spoke of its powers when Taiel first touched it; that if they held this while being reborn by the sky the power of flight would be available to them. Taiel did not understand what the feather meant at first, but after studying the ravens playing around in their yard they got an idea. They prayed to the raven god that they would survive this, and then they jumped off the town's clocktower. Taiel had seen the ravens jump of ledges and unfold their wings as close to the ground as they could. It was a silly game for the ravens, but a question of life and death for Taiel. They jumped off the tower, feather clutched tightly to their chest. They closed their eyes and prayed to the Raven. They didn't feel their body hit the ground, but only a tugging at their back and then air flowing in their face in a different direction. They opened their eyes. Their vision was different, they saw more of the world around them. Then they saw their own body; a coat of shiny, black feathers, big wings on either side and a gray beak where their nose should have been. Taiel had transformed into a dire-raven. After this incident, people in the town started calling Taiel Altari, meaning born of the sky.
