Before becoming a Feather Conservator the person must have been an active member in the community of the Raven god. They are chosen by the royal religious leaders and the current Altarian regent, usually the (future) conservator is one among them.
The chosen one must complete training and education in the keeping and caring of the feather. They must also be able to lead the different ceremonies, which will be tested before they are initiated.
The ceremony for appointing a new Feather Conservator is a small and private. Only the previous conservator, the royal religious leaders and the current head of the
Altari Family is present, in addition to the person to be appointed. They all gather in the feather chamber, light some candles and incense, and then read a few sacred texts. They all pray to the Raven god to lay their blessing on the new conservator. If they receive a good omen, the person is now initiated.
The Feather Conservator receives much respect from their peers and surroundings. They sit among the royal religious leaders and have their own chamber in the castle.
The conservator wears a ceremonial black robe with wide sleeves and a long drag in the back. There are shimmering blue/green drapes in the front, and the whole outfit is detailed with parts in chiseled amber. The amber sits on the clavicles and around the hips. They also wear a headpiece that resembles a raven's beak.
The feather conservator is a key role in the Altari family and their regency. Other cultures see them mostly just as a cleric, nothing really important to themselves.
Two tarot cards that I made a while ago, which I noticed looked alike in color scheme to the new image of the conservator! So, this is now the general colors of the Tharvah followers.
