Fashion

Fashion across the Empire   Due to the evolution of Daënfel's people through survival of The Breach, much of the fashion across the world today was localized to the regions who were cut off from eachother during this dark age of history.   Local fashions developed as such that they were heavily influenced by the resources the area had access to and the institutions that took control of the lands as the nobility of Eá-galwen lost power, failing to protect their people.   As such, you will see that many of the people who live around Dol Gadmen and Sage's Rest favouring utilitarian but stylized robes akin to those the mages of the Conclave have worn since their inception.   At Helias, it is no surprise that the people of the city favour the light, flowing silks that give the city its name, brilliantly coloured like the many spices that can be seen within the bazaars and market stalls of the city.   The people of the Heartlands follow in the customs of the Knightly Orders of Daënfel, wearing more plain leathers that are adorned with the heraldry of their local lord or champion.   In the colder, wetter forests of Avlar's Folly, heavier wools and jerkins are often seen, dyed and accompanied in the styles befitting those of the Avanís that an individual wishes to dedicate themselves to.   Fashion Movements   Changing as often as the tides, the fashion within Daënfel shifts often. While emerging styles can be seen across the Empire in all its major hubs, current events heavily inform the avant-garde movements that can be seen.   In the last year, one such fashion trend has been in honour of the recently deceased High Prelate of Trinity, with commoners dressing in dark blues to commemorate the night sky and the The Astronomer, while the Empire's elite have witnessed beautiful items of clothing at events such as dark stockings adorned with silver stars or tunics covered in artistic renditions of the cosmos.   Accessories   The middle and upper classes of the Empire place a great deal of fashion importance on accessories and additional items of clothing that serve little utilitarian purpose, as a symbol of their wealth. Examples of uncommon decorative wear include hats / bonnets, garters, piercings, rings and tattoos, many of which are enchanted with magical properties.   Masquerades   With such an importance placed on the meaning behind Masks, these lavish parties are often held by the rich and powerful of Daënfel as vibrant displays of wealth and personality.   Most notably, masquerade parties are the most common social function where scandalous or heavily political statements are made, with an event hosted at Carrag Nuine some years ago seeing Lady Beaumont of Port Montague wearing the mask of another woman's face, who turned out to be Lord Beaumont's mistress.   Shoes   Since as long as people can remember, it is customary for residents or guests to a household to take off their shoes before entering an abode withinThe Dawning Empire. Nearly all households are equipped with a small cupboard/closet specifically designed to store shoes, with fancier manors and palaces having entire rooms dedicated to this purpose, often guarded.   Other Fashion   Regions outside The Dawning Empire have their own take on fashion as well.   The clansmen of the Unbound Lands prefer form over function, wearing the pelts and skins of hunted animals for warmth and protection. In saying that, the hides of great beasts and monsters can be worn by hunters and warriors alike to show their prowess amongst their peers. Amulets, beads and symbology related to the Avanís Pantheon adorn most of the clothing worn by people in this region.   Diplomats of the Orodáni Federation are easy to spot for their satin - a material not seen naturally within Daënfel. Robes, shirts and flowing pants made of satin depict predominantly floral designs with softer colours to compliment their paler complexion.
