Örkraz

Örkraz /'œr̥k^hra:z/ is the third largest continent of Borgalor, located at the equator between Jælondis to the north and northwest, Southlands to the south and Lúrk to the east. Historically, it's been home to three sapient species, namely Ophids to the north on one hand, and Orcs and Goblins elsewhere on the other, though only the former two have inhabited Örkraz for much of history since goblins migrated to eastern Jælondis.

Geography

The Hnahlam Mountains -the second tallest in Borgalor- in the northern part of Örkraz divide the continent into two distinct regions, namely Sessalló to the north and Örkraz proper beyond, the traditional territories of ophids and orcs, respectively. The Gjóm Highlands dominate the central and eastern part of the land, much of which are covered in tropical rainforest and cloud forests that give way for savannas and karsts to the south, and a mixture of subtropical forests and trap rock formations to the southwest.
Northern Örkraz, beyond the Hnahlam Mountains, is characterized by myriad lakes and rivers, swamps and mangroves.

Fauna & Flora

Örkraz supports a number of ecosystems, most of which are composed of wildlife either endemic to the continent or distantly related to certain species found in more temperate parts of the Southlands. Notable species include birds-of-paradise, Palm Fowl and several kinds of poisonous birds, Land Crocodiles, giant rats and snakes, and sugarcane.

Natural Resources

Örkraz is rich in various ores and minerals, including iron, Hlölkite and Solite, precious and semi-precious stones and magic crystals.

Tourism

Tourists visit Örkraz in great numbers each year, whether to relax on the beaches, explore the jungles, mountains and coral reefs or experience the local ophid and orcish cultures. Most of these are Elves, goblins and to some extent Dwarves arriving from either Jælondis during winter or Southlands during summer.
